In fact, this option had been one of the criteria for our choice of washing machine when we bought this one about 5 years ago.

LG may be criticised by some electronic purists for being new in the game as regards audio-visuals, but they were streets ahead of the opposition when we looked at the controls of washing machines.

In fact, this option had been one of the criteria for our choice of washing machine when we bought this one about 5 years ago. We wanted to use our economy 7 to the maximum, and having the machine set to come on when we were snuggled up in bed for the night, meant we had peace from the machine and electricity savings as well.
The capacity of the drum was the next selling point for us - it was way bigger than anything available locally, and can easily cope with duvets, sleeping bags and the like.
The electronics were a third selling point. LG may be criticised by some electronic purists for being new in the game as regards audio-visuals, but they were streets ahead of the opposition when we looked at the controls of washing machines. In fact they both look and sound good.!
Everything is so easily set, that even the females in the house soon mastered the controls - no bad reviews for my comment, please, which is not sexist, but reflective of their stressful relationships with everything technical except mobile phones.!
You press an electronic button for the programme you want, then adjust, if desired, temperature, time and spin settings, with their appropriate buttons, then you are ready to begin. Just one push on the big button and a jingle tells you that all is ready to go. If you have not closed the door, a message appears to gently tell you to do so. And away you go.
Because each variation of setting has its own control, it is totally adaptable to your own choice. If you just want to get on with the job on a standard coloured or whites setting, that is your choice too.
There are eco settings available as well, and the usual dispensers for soap, and softeners.
The electronics tell you how long the wash will take, and even give you a constant readout of the time left to go, which is really useful.
When wash cycles are finsihed another jingle lets you know that ti's time to empty the LG and get the drying started.
Ours came with a free 5 year warranty, which meant that the total package was comparable with smaller or lesser equipped machines. We were told by the seller that we would probably never need the warranty as LG are good, and that has been proved true. Not a single problem since new.
Like most spinners, this one is noisy on full speed, but not significantly more than any other we have had.
This model is 5 years old, but our experience would send us down the same road if we were buying today. Price new was just short of £400 and similar models are about the same. If you reckon on 5 year warranties being about £180, we had good value.
