The best of both worlds. That's right, with the GCC-4120B you get a 12x8x32 CD-RW drive and a 8x DVD-ROM drive. It comes with underrun protection, high-speed media support and standard connection. In addition, it supports Phase II region playback control and is Windows 2000/ME/98/95/NT compatible. The combination GCC-4120B from LG. Two good reasons to buy one great product. The package includes two drive-IDE cables, an audio cable, mounting screws, as well as drive and software manuals.

Advantages: Writes to all 3 formats, Disadvantages: outdated now
...makes a better sense choice for backing up data from a computer, which needs to be re-written often as it can be re-written over 100,000 times, unlike the 1,000 times of DVD-RW and DVD+RW.
But thats not the only reason to choose this drive. It is as fast and reliable as any other DVD-Writer on the market, and doesn't cost any more, so it seems silly to spend money on another dvd-writer that can't do everything this one can do.
It also comes with a decent software bundle (that is continually updated so i won't list it) which allows you to straight away burn discs, capture and edit movies, backup your computer and much more.
The drive comes in black, silver or beige (i like black personally).
I have never once been let down by this drive, in fact i liked it so much, that i bought two of the newer LG GSA 4163BB Drive...

...I bought this a few months back when I was building my PC. I was looking for something that was combo for writing CD's but did not require a DVD RW drive. This was perfect! The pricing is excellent for this drive and is perfect for a budget builder.
You just plug it into the IDE slot install a few drivers for DVD play and viola!
I have never experienced a problem with Writing Cd's and every time the CD comes out perfect. DVD playback also is very smooth. The colour is great for a black computer case which I have so you don't end up with a silly beige one.
Mine did not come with an installation booklet, but that was not needed as that is included with your motherboard. However it was OEM the one i bought so if you buy a retail one I am sure it will include one.
LG is known for its great pricing and reliability which reflects strongly...

Advantages: Fast, reliable, writes to all formats and dual layer Disadvantages: there is one newer model
...I've reviewed the excellent LG GSA 4120B DVD-writer, and having owned it for 1.5 years, i got a new computer and needed some DVD-writers, so Sept 2005, i bought two of these, thats how much i trusted the quality of LG Super Multi Write Technology, and i haven't been let down.
The only difference between the these and the slightly newer GSA 4167B is that these can only write to DVD+R dual layer, whereas the 4167B can write to both DVD+R dual layer and DVD-R Dual layer, not a major problem really, especially since dual layer media is quite expensive.
The beauty of these machines, apart from their smart black exterior is that they can write to all three formats, DVD-,DVD+ and DVD-Ram. Almost everybody else does not support the DVD-Ram format, which is surprising since it is actually technologically much more advanced.
Unlike...

I am actually using this monitor right now, and use to play all consoles in my room. Just a gorgeous look, black, really elegant, maybe not the largest of monitors/tvs but gets the job done. Easy to get up, although stand took a while to fix on. Many... more
