Full review
Ever since the Chocolate LG was released and I saw the first adverts I knew I wanted this phone. At a price tag of over £200 though I decided that I'd wait a while and buy one when they got a bit cheaper. But the situation arose last week where my friend was selling hers as she didn't like it and I jumped at the opportunity and bought it off her for £80 - she bought it for £180!

So here is my review of this delicious phone…

The Look
-----------
The Chocolate LG is all about looks. Its slim (small enough to fit into your pocket without causing an unsightly bulge), sleek and pleasing to the eye. The amount of positive comments I've had already is astounding! The phone is one of the most modern looking around, that I have seen, and to me feels and looks slightly futuristic.
It giveas off a kind of minimalist vibe too - the only button you can see when the phone is closed is the OK button and even when you open it the buttons don't overwhelm you.
The red heat sensitive (note not touch sensitive) buttons/pad are a stark contrast against the pure white of the phone and the buttons inside are a chequered white and silver with a gorgeous white backlight behind them.
In addition to these buttons there are 4 side buttons, 2 of them being up/down volume. The other two are the end of call or off/on button (which I found a bit odd to be positioned on the side) and the mp3/ camera button, which takes you straight to the music. Also on the phone are a earphone/usb port and a hole to attach a charm or strap to.

Menu
------

Pressing Ok on the touch pad will take you to the menu which will present you with 9 options:
1. Profile - Pick the profile to suit your environment. General and Loud can be changed to suit you - you can choose your ringtone (even to an mp3), message tone, the noise for the slide or keypad - anything to do with sound can be changed here.
2. Call register - as with on all phones you can see who's called you, what calls you've missed, duration of the calls and even the GPRS data you've received and sent.
3. Tools - some very useful stuff in here. Here's where you'll find the calculator and alarm (with 5 alarms - useful for me with my '5 more minutes' in the morning!). Something I've never seen before in such detail is the converter. It has the basic length, volume, and weight but this one also has clothes and shoe sizes! Very useful for those shops that use American or European sizes.
4. Organiser - heres where you'll find the calendar, memo and contacts. Contacts is very useful in the way that you can store callers into specific groups which makes them easier to find and then give them their own ringtone so you know who's calling before even looking at the phone. You also have the option of assigning each contact a picture which will appear next to their name in the phonebook. Nifty eh? …. Good for those nights out when you're finding it hard to focus on a name - Just look at the picture!
5. Messages - Guess what you can do here? Send and receive text, MMS or email messages here. You can also change message settings here to receive delivery reports and such.
6. Multimedia - home of the fun stuff! The camera, video and mp3 applications are found here in addition to the photo and video albums.
7. Browser - Access the internet via GPRS to look at and download a whole host of interesting things.
8. My Stuff - this is where you'll find the everything you've put onto the phone. The games application is also here - with one pre-set game, Sudoku. If you've uploaded things onto your phone via USB, this is where it will turn up.
9. Settings - all the little bits and pieces you'll normally find on a phone - date/time, display, language, connectivity. One feature I do like on this phone is Bluetooth. Makes things so much easier to share with friends than using Infrared like I had to with my last phone.

Usability as a phone
-----------------------
Well as this is the main use of the phone I think we better talk about it!
Phone calls are simple to make - choose the contact from your contacts and press the phone symbol on the front of the phone. Press the side button to end. The clarity of speech is very clear.
Its extremely easy to text - the LG has the predictive text feature as well as the keypress. The buttons aren't raised making it hard to know if you've actually pressed it or not. It does take me a bit longer to text now but I suppose it'll get better with time.
The large screen will also hold up to 8 lines of text making it easy to read a text in one go.

Camera
---------
Not one of the best camera I've seen but it does generally take clear pictures of a good quality (better in sunlight and with flash). You cant really expect more from a mobile camera. You can also change effects on the camera, the brightness, size and quality of pictures.

Durability
-----------
Due to its design, the smoothness and sleek design of the phone, it does tend to get damaged very easily. There is no grip to hold while texting or talking so if your hands are slightly damp or you haven't got a proper grip on the phone then its goodbye hand, hello floor. The phone is quite strong but I don't think it will take many knocks before it shows signs of wear and tear. I've only had it a week and it's a little scratched already! Best to invest in a screen protector and neck strap I think!

So overall….

Advantages
--------------
+ Innovative use of the touch pad
+ Gorgeous design
+ Room for 200 contacts/messages
+ Good camera
+ Good mp3 player - can hold up to 30 songs.

Disadvantages
----------------
- Takes a while to get used to.
- Due to range of features battery can get run down very quickly

The advantages greatly outweigh the disadvantages, if you're looking for a stylish modern phone - this is the one for you.

LG KG800 Chocolate in WHITE - SIM FREE - UNLOCKED -
Boasting a hidden LCD screen and touch-keypad controls that glow red when in use, the more
feature-rich, slim LG KG800 phone is designed with
minimalism in mind and will become a must-have
handset for those that value fashion as well as
function. With a look and feel totally dissimilar
to any previous handset, the LG KG800 phone is the
first product from LGs premium series of mobile
phones that combine fantastic styling with
cutting-edge technology.   The LG KG800 phone
which has been launched in Korea last November has
already sold over 300,000 units in 3 months and
won two European design awards (iF Design Award
and Red dot Design Award for its unique styling
and user interface).   And the LG KG800 certainly
is a best-seller in its home country. It's become
a favourite phone for the rich and famous,
appearing in the hand (and pocket) of top celebs.
Why? Well, the phone cleverly blends modern
styling with useful features. When the slide-up
design is closed, you'll notice a high-quality
display screen and a handful of touch-sensitive
keys for controlling essential functions. They
glow red when they're being used and fade into the
background when they're not needed.  Slide the
phone open and there's a standard keypad, along
with a wealth of useful functions including an
alarm clock, calendar, calculator, photo editor
and games. The LG KG800 is also an MP3 player,
with 128MB of memory providing plenty of storage
space. In addition, the back of the phone contains
a 1.3 megapixel camera for photos and videos.  All
this and Bluetooth connectivity as well. If you're
looking for stand-out style without compromising
on usability, you'll appreciate the LG KG800. It
certainly is a tasty little camera phone!
