The price that I got my KP500 for (£109) is probably the highest that you can expect to pay at this time, I would imagine that you could get it a lot cheaper on EBay, just have a look around, I'm sure there are many different offers about. I'm a bit of a geek when it comes to gadgets. I'm always replacing my phones, mp3 players etc. It's an annoying habbit but never mind that. I'd been using my Sony Ericsson Walkman phone for just about a year but it started playing up, the texts weren't sending and the camera was broke so, I decided to buy a new phone. I saw the LG KP500 (Cookie) on offer for £109 and I couldn't resist sending myself broke for a few weeks to try out this new gadget!
I was a little worried after reading some comments on this phone about it being no good but I've only had a few minor problems with the LG KP500, nothing that would make me not want to use it! The only problems that I've had so far (I've only had it for 3 months) is that sometimes when I try to reply to a text, the phone slows up and I end up touching the reply button then the send button which sends a blank message, that's quite annoying but it's a problem that I can deal with. Maybe the problem is just my patience! The one other problem that seems to have resolved itself now strangely, is that on a couple of occasions the whole screen has gone a bright blue colour and frozen, the only way I found to fix this was to turn the phone off and on again, but as I said, this seems to have resolved itself.
The messaging function is fairly easy to use but if you have big fingers I'd advise that you just use the Stylus pen provided becasue it can be quite a task even for someone with small fingers. The inbox and outbox has a huge memory but I find it best to delete the messages when it gets to about 100 in each because it seems to slow the phone down a bit. When typiing a text there is the option to use T9 (too annoying for me), standard abc text or the Qwerty keypad. I find that using the Qwerty keypad with the Stylus pen is the fastest was to text and most accurate too. Sending a MMS is as simple as can be, just select the MMS option and select the image, video or sound that you want to send and you're away!
The camera function on this phone is one of the best quality of cameras that I have seen on a mobile phone so far. It has a 3.0mp cam with so many different options for effects, frames etc. The quality of image produce is near perfect. It can take a while to get used to the camera but I'd say that it is near enough the same quality picture as my digital camera. The other great thing about this phone is that once you take your picture you can then edit it on the phone itslf instead of having to upload it to your computer first so that saves a lot of time.
The music player is not my favourite thing on the KP500 but again, I think that just has something to do with my lack of patience! There is the option to minimize the media player so that you can listen to your music on the go if you wish, as well as a radio player that you can minimize. The media player does support album artwork but I've yet to figure out how to get it visible on all of my music albums which is slightly annoying but I'm determined to figure it out. There is also the option of shuffling your music which I was really pleased about because I prefer to listen to random songs instead of a whole album which I can't do on my mp3 player.
There is a slot for a Micro SD card if you want to store your music or videos on your phone, I bought a 4GB one after buying the phone as there was no free card with mine and the 4GB seems to work fine at the moment. I was going to get an 8GB but didn't want to overload the phone.
The touch screen itself couldn't be easier to use. There are scroll functions on the menu and the screen is really sensitive. This is a good thing when I'm using my phone but I wouldn't recommend carrying this phone around in your pocket becasue the unlock function is really easy to activate, I have had the phone in my pocket before and accidently sent SMS and made phone calls!
There are a varitey of game demos and flash demos that come with this phone so you definitely can't get bored, I mainly use my phone for texting though so I still haven't fully explored this function! The KP500 offers so much to do, I really need to sit down and look through the whole thing because I'm sure that there are things that I still haven't looked at.
In the box I had:
Headphones LG PC Suite CD-Rom Screen Protector Charger

Overall, I'm really pleased with this phone and very happy that I bought it, if you like gadgets then I'd definitely recommend it.

Advantages: Cheap for quality, Crystal LCD screen, nice customisation, Lightweight Disadvantages: Signal can get bad, Camera can be tempermental
This was my first touch screen phone ever and I wasn't disappointed. It looks good, feels good and is easy to use. It had an easily accesible menu section, and it allowed you to do everything you'd expect a phone to do. I love touch phones and I think they're amazing, and this one is definitely a top phone to have. The LCD screen is crystal clear and the camera, despite saying 3MP, is absolutely brilliant. Obviously, it's not Digital SLi standard, ... ...mate falling over, then this is a definitely good choice. The one thing I found with it is that the camera has difficult taking pictures in the dark (well, difficulty is an understatement) and some of the colours can get distorted. The touch pad when you text is easy to use to. I would steer away from using the Stylus unless you have a plastic cover because it can scratch the screen, but using the tips of your fingers, or gently tapping with your ...

Advantages: lightweight, cheap, 3inches touchscreen Disadvantages: no-WiFi support, small in-storage requires an SDcard.
The LG KP500 or LG cookie is a relatively low-cost touchscreen mobile. Lightweight and minimal design as well as a full color 3 inches touchscreen. The touchscreen is fully responsive when using the stylus and it has a fair responsiveness when using only fingers. The user interface has a high degree of intuitiveness and utilizes fully the touchscreen capabilities of the device. Furthermore, it encompasses a 3.2 MP camera also capable of video recording as well as an mp3player, organizer functions, JAVA2ME support and a decent headphone. All-around, its pretty inexpensive compared to other touchscreen mobiles, although that the good price comes at the cost of WiFi support. ...

Advantages: sleek, fairly easy to use, Disadvantages: camera isnt good, texting is hard
I have the kp501 which has different buttons compared to the kp500 and only comes with the orange contract.
I think the phone is very reliable, quick, and fairly easy to use. I am first timer with the touch screen so i found it slightly hard to use, however after having the phone for nearly 5 months, I have found that txting on this phone can get quite frustrating at times, to a degree where i just call people instead of txting.
A couple of times ... ...the battery out and restart the phone, but all in all it is a sleek looking phone.
Its a camera phone, but the camera isnt that great so if anyone is looking for a camera touch screen phone then this one isnt really for you. Its made to be simple, and affordable for those on a budget. ...

Advantages: value for money, good features Disadvantages: freezes now and again, need to keep clearing out the internet cache
...I find the fact that LG sell just the stylus's incase you have lost yours very unusual but much needed! The only bad point to this phone is the simple thing that it freezes now and again, but soon catches up. The battery lasts very well, the phone looks smart, and much more expensive than what it is. There are many more apps you can purchase online, making this phone even better ...

The LG Cookie is the most affordable full touchscreen handset in the UK. Despite its low price tag, this attractive phone has the latest touch technology and features normally found in high-end handsets. 3 inch touchscreen KP500 offers the latest touchscreen technology, with auto rotation display, which shifts images and documents for enhanced viewing.
