We have just purchased this phone, My Girlfriend is a bit of a trend setter, and so went into Phones4U to collect this piece of pure genius.
The box is imprinted with the date it was made (20 Oct 2007), so in our grubby little hands fast.
The first thing you notice when you open the box, is the 'pop-up' style opening, which allows you to see two pictures of the phone. One as a phone, one as a camera.
When you pull the phone out of the box, it looks like a camera with phone feature... which is amazing in itself!
The inclusion of a screen protector is a brilliant idea, although it is a bit fidgety to attatch (i have big chubby Scottish fingers)
Once the battery is installed, the weight of it is minimal with it being bigger, yet lighter than the nokia 6111!
Turning the phone on (vodafone), you are asked to set up the localised settings, and once you have passed this stage you have the full home screen, with the short menu at the bottom. (SMS, Call, Menu and Phone Book) At the top right hand corner you have the 'task manager' where you can quickly access all of the programs running at that time.
Take a break here: The screen size is (I think 2.6" by 1.6") is large and is so bright. Touching the screen to do the standard tasks (such as calling someone). You have the full keypad coming up on screen for you to easily press the screen to type the number. You also have speaker phone, which allows you to use when you are doing other things.
The camera on the phone is 5million pixels, and upon looking on a pc (once transfered fast over bluetooth), the quality is better than My n95!
When sending text messages, you can have the option of a full 'QWERTY' keyboard (landscape mode), and typing on it is simple. The sound quality of the handset is exceptional and so crisp and clear.
The phone also features Google Maps (check with your operator for the cost), which pin points your locality very nicley. The clock on the phone can be moved around by placing your finger on it and dragging, and as most phones now you can select you own wallpaper - either standard from the phone or from your own pictures / collection. Another great feature to this phone is its Handwriting recognition system, which is very intelligent. My handwriting is awful (ask my English Teacher), the phone picks it up really well, and can identify the words i have written.
It is also a video camera and is able to record at a high speed of 120fps (frames per second), And also has DIVX formatting as standard.
The phone is also a music device, allowing you to download music from your pc and playing wherever you go. The included memory (1GB) is expandable with Micro SD cards upto max 2gb.
This phone is highly recommened so far, stay tuned for the first month update!
Further to the above review, the apple iphone only supports 2G network interface, where as the Viewty support 3g+ allowing you to browse the intere at high speeds and make video calls to your friends and family/
