I got this monitor free with my new computer which is supplied by my broadband provider. I was expecting a 15" monitor but was upgraded to this for being one of their new customers.
Anyway, I've been using it now for a number of months and have had no problems with it whatsoever. It's 19" view size is absolutely massive (compared to my old 15" flatscreen) and general web browsing and gaming looks brilliant on it now. The screen, as it is LCD, is very sharp and precise and has no dead pixels it in after around 6 months.
It has a large range of colour options, options to move the screen, easy to use buttons and on screen display and a large number of refresh rates and resolutions that it can display. The max is 1280x1024 which is brilliant for windows desktops, you can fit many windows on the screen at one time, excellent for multitasking.
There are 5 buttons on the side of the monitor for navigating the on-screen menu, power and enter buttons. The enter button also acts as an automatic configuration facility (when not in the menu) so that when you press it, the monitor will automatically adjust the brightness and sharpness settings to give you the best view of whatever you're displaying. I have to say, this feature is particularly useful. I have a VGA box connected to the monitor so I can play the PS2 through it, and when I flick it back onto PC input, it sometimes can be a little fuzzy after playing the PS2 - one click of the enter button and monitor readjusts to the input from the PC.
The only problem I've had with it so far is that the stand that is supplied with it does seem a little loose and does tend to wobble slightly when I'm typing and particularly when the printer is going (as it does vibrate the desk somewhat) but it's just something you live with. For the price (which was free for me) it's a brilliant monitor, flat screen - larger than the standard 15" you get with PCs nowadays and made by a well-known and reputable company.
It would probably be better in widescreen as it is a bit big and square - but does mean that you have a large view of you computer (or a TV screen as I use it for TV and PS2 aswell) without having to squint at a tiny 15" screen.
Advantages: Cheap ish, bright, probably very good for film / games Disadvantages: No DVI, speakers, poor colour accuracy, not good for work
...was going to buy two LG 19" for the same money as they seem to have the best contrast ratio, so hopefully the sharpest picture. Having said that.... I believe the 1400 and 2000 LG claim on their monitors is 'contrast enhanced' or something and not a true ratio. I had a Hanns G from argos currently £99 as the cheapest they sold for a test. It was very good, but I thought I'd swap it for the £150 L1919S to see what it was like before buying a couple ... ...The picture on the LG is very bright and in your face, text isn't as clear as the HG. Colours are very bright but not very accurate. Light grays can hardly be seen. As a web designer I need accurate colours and I know what #EEEEEE should look like. On the LG its so faint its hard to distinguish from white. Not good. The HG was much better in this regard. Looking at the stars below in the rating for this review the stars can barely be seen.

Advantages: Very nice front panel design, satisfactory performance Disadvantages: Has no DVI connectivity
...see the difference between tihs LG and my old Samsung Syncmaster CRT. But I wouldn't buy myself a monitor with the 16 or 12ms latency - you can get 8ms ones for the same price. Contrast - 1400:1. I think no comments are needed. But if you are completely "green" in LCD monitors, I will say you, the contrast is the difference between the brightest possible and the darkest possible colors the screen can generate. 1400:1 is more than enough for comfortable ... ...the brightness of this monitor, but it is enough for me, I even needed to darken it a bit in order not to tire my eyes so much. It may be even a disadvantage, depending on your opinion.
The front panel - There are NO buttons! All the buttons are hidden at the other side of the panel and are easily useable. That's, in my humble opinion, is nice. 19" of picture for the low price.
Installation - just connect two cables (D-SUB and Power), place your ...
