I received this MP3 player as a gift, and have owned it for several months now, and i couldn't be more pleased with it! Infact, i'm not too sure where i should start here...
First of all, how does it look? Well, the size and weight of this product. Perfect! No, it may not be one of those teeny tiny mp3 player's we've all seen, but you'll want to be able to see what's on your screen, right? The plain, simple colour of this product is suitable for anyone. Male, female.. The younger generation and the older! The buttons on this product have been kept to a minimum, which is also helpful, and will avoid much confusion. First of all is the 'Menu' button. Pretty self explanatory eh? Click it, and it'll give you the menu. However, if you're playing music and you hold this button down, it'll give you your music library. Through this you can search through your music by Artist, Album or even Genre. If you hold the 'menu' button down whilst playing a video, it'll show your video library, and hold it down when browsing through your photos? I think you know where i'm going with this... Next is the 'EZ' (easy) button. Press this whilst playing one of your tracks and it'll give you a menu, where it allows you to change your audio settings. That then leaves you with the 'play/pause', 'next track', 'previous track', 'hold' buttons and of course the navigation 'flipper' which enables you to scroll up and down through menus.
The quality of the sound on this product, using the earphones supplied, is also wonderful. I've never had to go above 20 volume, even when out and about! The battery life is outstanding! You can charge the MP3's battery through the plug supplied, or even through your PC. I recently traveled for over 8 hours (each way!!), and did my JM53 let me down?... Not a chance! This was the perfect MP3 player for my journey, and with the 8GB storage, the chances of me hearing that same song twice, were slim.
So we've talked about design and performance. What's it like with your PC? It couldn't be more simpler. Plug it in via the USB lead and simply drag and drop your files, from your hard drive, to the JM53's. Movies, however, are a little more trickier. The JM53 only supports "MPEG4" movie files so you'll have to use the convert feature in the Media Centre application, provided on the CD-ROM. But, depending on the size of the movie file, this does not take long. That is one of very few minor down points to this product. The product comes with a "quick guide" which is literally a page explaining how to use the product. It isn't useful at all, but after five minutes of playing with the JM53 yourself, everything seems to fall into place.
Overall, i think that this is an excellent MP3 player. And at 8BG, it's also a great value for money. Once you've spent ten minutes playing with this product, you will instantly fall in love with it!

The JM53 certainly looks very good, both in terms of design, and in terms of permformance on paper, however i was fairly disappointed by it. For starters, There is no abilty to browse music whilst playing, and not even any way to seperate music by different artists. As a result, the only way to pick a certain song is to scroll through your whole libary until you get there, and with 8GB this can take a while. Plus, as mentioned before, you can't scroll ... ...this.
Another problem i have found is that it does not support MP4 files at all. Not a problem if you stick to MP3 format but as i have a large number of MP4 files, i spent many hours converting before i could even use the JM53 fully.
Alot of input seems to have been focused on the style with this product. Most obviously, the side and top buttons. This idea works quite well i feel. It makes it easy to change songs without the need to look at the ...
