Toshiba 1TB Desktop Hard Drive (USB)

Advantages: Value for money, massive storage, great design, decent speeds!
Disadvantages: Bright flasing blue/red/purple light on the front.

My laptop is fairly old but has served me very well (it's a Toshiba incidentaly) , it has about 27GB of storage space which nowdays isn't enough for all my work as well as movies and music. I decided to look at some external hard drives so I could store everything that I wanted and more. This particular model appealed to me, not just because it was the cheapest, but because it had very good specs (1TB of storage to say the least) and was a Toshiba. A very good brand that I trust. So I forked out the cash and had it delivered to my door. Opening the box, I saw that it was slightly longer but overall smaller than it had apeared online. Review of Toshiba Hard drive 1 TB

The Maxtor Basics 1 TB looks amazing and is very user friendly.

Advantages: Huge storage space, Looks beautiful, Very easy to install and use, Loads videos very quickly.
Disadvantages: None really.

impressive, able to load a 700mb video file immediately with no lag whatsoever, video files never stutter or skip. Upon plugging it into the USB port however it can take almost 30 seconds to be recognised by my laptop (this is also the case on another laptop and a desktop computer), sadly letting down the otherwise astonishing speed that this external hard drive has. 4/5 Value for Money At the time of writing, you will be pushed to find a 1 terabyte external hard drive that looks so good and works so well at a lower price than the Maxtor. Review of Maxtor Basics Desktop 1 TB

Not bad for 1TB.

Advantages: 1 Terrabyte
Disadvantages: not portable - but who cares

This is a bargain that i couldn't pass up without buying. 1TB should keep me going for several years and more. I bought this hard drive for £101 and it has been a pleasure to use. It's a doddle to set up and install and the fast rate of transfer makes file sharing very efficient and easy. Design The portable hard drive comes in an attractive silver case that has USB2 and FireWire 400 ports. It is a desktop drive and cant really be moved around due to its size. Installation The instructions were easy to follow and it installed by windows wizard as soon as i plugged it in, so within 20 minutes i was backing up my files.
