After reading great advice on De-junk your make-up at Superdrug by cgibson I decided it was about time I updated my lipstick. Since this is the only piece of make-up I wear every day, wanted a real treat….
So off I went to peruse the aisles of Superdrug testers in our local town….
(Unfortunately most of the testers were either empty or missing) – It looked like somebody had a riot in the shop ... ...our local Boots which is only small but did have 8 different ranges of make-up to look at so I was impressed.
I had recently read in a magazine about the following lippy’s which I was interested to see the colours for myself:-
Astor – Shine Extreme Lipstick – Wet look (no price on advert)
Rimmel vinyl Lip-gloss “Snog” (loved the sound of this one) £3.49.

What I Found ~~~~~~~~~~~ The first thing to bear in mind is that there are so many colours, textures and types available you really need to allow yourself time to take it all in.
In the past I have trained in colour consultancy so I know what colours suit me and what to avoid which is always a good start.
Tip: If you have a favourite colour lipstick you know suits you take it along so that you can look at the colour against what is available so you know what shading to go for i.e. colour are either warm are cool tones (pinky or orangey) so it helps to make the right choice for you.
So armed with my trusty old lippy I went to look at the testers!
What I wanted from my new lipstick ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
1) A stylish product with a good brand name 2) A new Sexy Look 3) My lips would feel moisturised 4) Long lasting 5) The right colour for me 6) Kissable lips make me feel special 7) Something a little bit different
My Boots Experience ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I tried several colours on the back of may hand to test for colour, texture and feel.
I found Boots to be clean, stocked, and plenty of testers to use.
After spending ages looking at all the ranges I opted for:-
L’Oreal Colour Riche – Sparkly lip Colour £6.99
Colour option no 340 Praline Crystal (a wonderful peachy shade with a hint of sparkle)
The only bad point No Mirrors?????????
My Lippy ~~~~~~~~
Quality: 10/10 I really felt that the stick was solid and I loved the shape at the end that seemed to be specially contoured to fit the shape of my lips.
Absorbency: 9/10 I could feel it going onto my lips very smoothly and even, gliding all the way
Gloss: 10/10 An instant shine WOW factor 10
Frequency of application: 5/10 I still need to reapply after eating and drinking. Not a great one for staying power.
Colour: 10/10 perfect for me suits my skin tone and suits with or without full make-up
Feelings: I feel sexy and love the overall look so much I am hooked.
Compliments: I tried my new lippy for first time with no other make up. My Mum said you look lovely today. When I commented on my new lipstick she said it really suited me and brought a glow to my face. Cheers Mum. Can always rely on her for an honest opinion.
Overall 9/10 I love my new look and I feel trendy too!
Lasting Lipstick:- I have been using this for 2 months now and I just love it. It makes me feel good and we all need a boost every day.
Advantages: A good enriching lipstick Disadvantages: None
Only last week when I walked into Boots the chemist I noticed that the L`Oreal stand had been put in another corner of the store. There was the usual line up of cosmetics including Rimmel, Barry M, Maybelline, Max Factor and a couple of less well known names in the world of cosmetics and L`Oreal stood alone.
I supposed it was one of the one hundred and one marketing tactics that stores are so keen on applying.
L`Oreal are well established and they ... ...there are many females that have not bought one of the L`Oreal products at one time or another.
L`Oreal have put the Color Riche lipstick into a traditional twist mechanism case which has quite a sophisticated appearance.
I would like to say that I think the silvery cases make a great change from the normal run of the mill plastic ones.
The cases are elegant and simple and if you need to whip them out in a hurry to top up then at least they look ...

Advantages: Great coverage, moisture and nice smell Disadvantages: None that I can find!!!
Having tried the full range of lipsticks on the market it has to be said that Loreal for me at least, is the best of the bunch. With it's pleasent smell, light even texture and superior moisture content this puts it in the league of other much more expensive designer brands of make-up. It has to be said it is the best value for money that I've found in lipstick products. Also I did read once that Loreal and Lancome (a 4 times more expensive brand) ...

Advantages: moist, good range of colours, stays on, nicely scented Disadvantages: quite pricey
I treated myself to some of this lipstick on my birthday as I had some money to spend and this lipstick looked very good value for money. As it happens, I have been very satisfied with my purchase and don't regret investing in it. It comes in a lovely gold-coloured casing with an attractive "lock" feature which, once you have it sitting nicely in your make-up bag, makes it look unique and special to you only. (OK, so maybe I'm going a little over ...

Advantages: Feels nice on your lips Disadvantages: Staying power is not brilliant
I had a L'Oreal gift set for Christmas and it included a Colour Rich lipstick in coral.
It is quite a nice colour, though not one that I would normally wear. However, since it was a gift, I decided to try it out. The lipstick went on very well and it felt nice on my lips. Unfortunately I was not very happy about the staying power. It did not pass the coffee cup test and I had to reapply it several times during the day. At the end of the day, my ...

Advantages: nice colours, moisturising Disadvantages: expensive, not long lasting
I have always quite liked l'oreal lipsticks because they are generally good quality and have a good choice of colours. I bought this in Superdrug but there was a lack of testers and the lighting was terrible. I picked up a nice nude colour which I like very much and, unfortunately, another which turned out to be completely different in natural light!
the nude one is a staple in my bag and is a lovely colour, a not too matte ,slightly pinky brown. ...

and balm, for added colour. When I tried it on the back of my hand in the shop, I couldn't remove the stain till the following day, that's why I bought it!
I have tried 3 colours, the plum, rose and taupe, all are pretty true to their tester colours, and they don't change shade on the lips. Previously I have used the Avon moisture rich lipsticks, and the L'oreal 2 step colours, but none last this well. I haven't noticed a transfer on cups, either.
As I remove my face make up with Johnson's baby wipes, I find that sufficient to remove most of the colour. Untouched, I think they last 8 to 10 hours without fading, but the actually leave a stain for probably about 14 hours.
I paid £5.99 in Boots for this product, and I haven't run out yet - I bought the first one in the beginning of December, and wear it about 3 times a week.
I will ...
Advantages: bigger bottle which is good for longer hair Disadvantages: not as bright as you would expect
As an ex hairdresser who swore by L'oreal products....i was somewhat disappointed by this product. I have had so many shades of red over the years...mostly by made by L'oreal. One reason I stick with them now because i know thier numbering system, and so if i buy 6.66....i know that I get a base six(depth) with red as the primary and secondary colour( as 6 means red), and so will be as red as you can get. The colour booster also gives you some extra red to make it even brighter. However after I had used this product..my hair was even less red than it had started out. The colour was even and rich, but lacked the brightness I had been promised by the packaging. I shall still use L'oreal, but not this particular product. It would be good for those that don't want very bright results. ...

. The text says "L'Oreal Paris" then "Excellence Creme Triple Protection Creme Colourant before during and after colouring perfect grey coverage rich even long-lasting colour. With Ceramide Protein conditioner. Non-drip creme" - phew! The model looks like Rachel from S Club 7, so here's hoping! On the reverse of the box it goes through the 3 stages that are the triple protection that they mention - and I quote from the box:
Before (stage 1)
The new Protective Serum of Excellence Creme cares for the damaged parts of the hair especially the ends. To be used before colouring. Your hair is protected, ready and prepared to be coloured.
During (stage 2)
The extra protective Excellence Creme colourant gives your hair a rich and even colour that covers even resistant greys perfectly. Excellence Creme is non-drip, therefore ensuring ...
