My natural colour is a very light brown colour with natural blonde tones, 3 most recent colours it has had were twice auburn and then blonde (in attempt to get rid of the red tones in my hair).
I then bought L'Oreal coleur 'exprete', absolutely daft name, as there is nothing expert about this colour that's for sure.
Yesterday I did a streak test, I cut a full length streak right from the root and applied the colourant, once I had left it the time stated I washed the streak and had a look, I was in shock as nothing had actually happened, apart from the roots getting lighter! So I decided to give
it another go, convinced something miraculous must start to happen sooner or later, I left it another hour!
When I finally rinsed out the streak test and look at it the roots looked lighter and the main hair itself looked darker.
I spent most of last night convincing myself that I should give the colour a go and what's the worst that could happen...big mistake!
So this morning I applied the colourant to my roots first as stated, making sure they were all covered. Then I applied to the rest of my hair. I must point out that the smell was AWFUL at one point during the begining I was gasping for breath, then I heaved, it is very overwhelming! After last nights experience I decided to leave the colourant in for a full hour, then I went to wash it out. As I looked in the mirror the colour looked even all over and quite nice, I was impressed and congratulating myself on deciding to colour my hair.
Tip:Don't be too optimistic when coluring your hair!
Anyway, this colour was washed out and then I continued to read the instructions.
I mixed the powder and liquid as stated and began picking out where I wanted the streaks, they include a little brush, just like a mascara brush, to help with applying the mixture to the streaks.
So, they tell you not to sttreak right down to the root, I don't know why, but I listened to what they were saying, so I started applying the mixture to my first streak, after about 10 seconds of using this mascara wand on my wonderful harmonised highlights I noticed I had a little problem, my hair was twisted and trapped inside the bristles of the brush!!
What a disater I thought, I had mixture all over my gloves and it was extremely fiddly to get the hair off the brush, but I finally managed it (thank god). I then realised that if I just let the streak hang down with the rest of my hair I would have patchy lights bits here there and everywhere so I ran downstairs to get some tin foil, and wrapped it up into that, that made me feel a little better!
After my experience with the first streak I only managed to do one more before realising my hair was drying and I didn't like the look of the colour that was emerging.
So I wrapped the second streak up and went downstairs for a much needed break!
After checking on my highlights after around 15 minutes the roots looked platinum blonde, I was impressed, though me being a sceptic I unravelled the rest of the tin foil and lo and behold the rest of the streak was ginger!!!!!!
So I decided I would leave it aother 15 minutes, finally, fed up with waiting and damaging my hair I decided to go upstairs wash it all out and have a bath!
After being out of the bath for around an hour now my hair is virtually dry, I have looked at the colour under natural and un-natural lights.
My roots have gone a very lovely light brown (the colour the rest of it should have gone according to the pack)
The top of the highlights (around 3") are a gorgeous platinum blonde, unfortunately they look very odd as I was told NOT to dye right down to the root, and boy do I wish I did, the rest of the streaks are ginger! And...the hair that has been coloured on top of hair that has already been coloured is a mix of browns, reds and gingers.
I look like a freak show!
The only experience I gained from this was DO NOT BUY L'Oreal Couler Experte!!!!!
All I can do now is dye my hair VERY dark brown or platinum blonde!!
Absolute disaster.

It gets worse! The next day after colouring it looked even worse, it was so bad I considered doing a britney! I have had to get a proffesional hairdresser to come here and tell me what she can do, its going to cost me £75!! OMG! And I have to wait till Thursday which means I'm stuck in for another week lol :( Really angry .

Good review, these two step colours are very difficult to use, especially to yourself. I tried doing it to my daughters hair and said never again!
Advantages: Glossy colour, shows up well, good price Disadvantages: Very strong smelling & messier than all other dyes I've used (probably due to the fact you need to dampen hair)
