Start with my ‘wonderful’ blokey telling me that, at the ripe old age of 26, I am getting wrinkles and add to that the fact that I was getting a very strange scaly patch of skin above my eyebrows and we have a dramatic rescue mission on our hands.
After trawling through the alien, horribly mirrored, brightly lit and overwhelmingly packed shelved land that is known as the Beauty Aisle in Boots I stumbled out the other end close to tears and all ready to live the rest of my days in the swamps of Sheppey known only as the Eighth Wonder of The World -The Snake Woman of Kent.
When LO! A light fell upon a small stand in front of me advertising REVITALIFT - DAY! My rescue was complete when I noticed the 10% off sign. If I could have fallen to my knees and kissed the stand without being carted off to the Looney Bin I would have. (I don’t much like buying cosmetics in case you were wondering.)
Now please excuse me if my review from here on in is a tad vague. I had already written this review, complete with a month worth of detailed daily entries giving my views and feelings on the effects of my rescue that fateful day. When I was once again knocked flat on my wrinkly face by a virus on my pc and, you guessed it, had to completely format said beastly machine and lost the whole 3 pages of review. Maybe a blessing for the good citizens of Ciao but a catastrophe for a whoopidoo faced with the re-write. I am only now 2 months later attempting again but have discarded the cardboard box etc so those details will be a little vague.
Onwards with our journey through the Wrinkle Valley, otherwise known as My Face.
Be fairly careful when selecting your choice of REVITALIFT as, from what I can remember of that fateful day said wrinkle exterminator comes in three varieties. These are:
REVITALIFT - DAY
REVITALIFT - NIGHT
REVITALIFT - MATURE SKIN
Three varieties - one identical box. REVITALIFT in big bold gold (or possibly silver, sorry bit hazy here) print and then in miniscule text underneath you are granted an insight into the variety you are buying.
The box itself is small, white and made of cardboard. Emblazoned around the sides are ingredients, instructions of use and diagrams detailing how the cream penetrates the skin.
The front is just the Title: L’Oreal Paris REVITALIFT Day (Or Night or Mature etc)
Now had I, in my panic stricken, cosmetic phobic, state bothered to read the back at my time of purchase I would have seen that L’Oreal recommend you use this product along with a few others of theirs. I would be precise but can’t remember for sure and can’t find the recommendation on their website for some reason BUT I am fairly certain that you are recommended to use the L’Oreal Paris Cleanser, the Toner, REVITALIFT day AND REVITALIFT night. Had I spotted this I would have ventured back into the barren lands of the Beauty Aisles as there is no way on this planet I could afford or would want to pay for all that amount of cosmetics.
However I did not notice and so forked over my £5.99 which was a discount 10% off sale price.
Once I had gotten back to the safe reality that is my house I perused the alien object that I had squandered my cash on.
The tub was quite nice looking, made of some sort of glass or china type material. It was white, small enough to hold in the palm of your hand, 50ml, and surprisingly heavy. Nice and basic - it was decorated with just the name of the product around the front and a little logo on top of the plastic pearl coloured lid.
Easy enough to unscrew the lid - the smell of the white cream was not unpleasant at all - very much like Nivea in fact. Quite nice actually.
I decided that although I was not going to use the extra products I would still try and follow the routine which was basically cleanse and tone in the morning (Meaning I had a thorough scrub with the shower gel) and apply REVITALIFT day. I used far, far too much on my first go and as a result was left with a very greasy face. The Nivea type aroma stayed with me all day and, after I wiped off the excess my skin felt soft and smooth for most of the day. Come evening you cleanse and tone again (scrub with shower gel) and apply REVITALIFT night (In my case REVITALIFT day) After applying the proper amount, the cream was easily absorbed into my skin and didn’t feel greasy.
Two or three days and much harrumphing and moaning about faffing and fussing later, I happened to actually examine my face closely in the mirror. Usually I have a quick check whilst doing hair just to make sure I don’t resemble Sonic but wanted to see how bad the scales were developing, see if I was ready to shed skin and assume my rightful snake form and all that. Much to my surprise the scaly skin had completely gone. I can’t say precisely what day as am not a mirror lover but decided to keep an eye out for any future developments.
A week or so later my skin was definitely much smoother to the touch and the nose to mouth lines were visibly, to me, reduced. My boyfriend said he couldn’t see a difference but that he didn’t think I was wrinkly anymore. Contradiction, yes but he is a man. I took it as agreement with my own analysis and so was quite a happy bunny. He did say that my face was very smooth and more strokeable.
The box asks you to give the cream a month, which was why my original review took so long to write. However to cut a long sob story short I didn’t notice too much more difference after week one. Which is good really as it worked three weeks early. The difference was subtle not noticeable in a ’eeek chemical peel’ kind of way. It made me feel better within myself and I guess that's half the battle.
Also around week 3 I started getting dry eczema patches on my elbows - after applying REVITALIFT these disappeared within two days.
The tub lasted me about two months which was surprising as it really is a very small tub. I have not used it again since, not because it wasn’t good just because I find it really hard to justify spending that much. Besides the scales haven’t come back and I didn’t think I was wrinkly anyway. I haven’t noticed my nose to mouth lines deepening again - no doubt my boyfriend will tell me if they do and so I don’t feel the need to buy again.
To sum up - I found REVITALIFT day really good for the dry scales and the eczema but would a cheaper moisturiser have been just as good? I found my nose to mouth lines were less deep but again - these didn’t really bother me anyway. Perhaps had I more proper wrinkles I would have seen a bigger effect. All in all I was very pleased with the results but hopefully I wont be buying again until I am in need of the Mature REVITALIFT.
The ingredients include Anti-wrinkle and Firming Cream Nanosomes of Pro-Retinol A+Par-Elastyl, sounds like gobbledegook to me but the cream also contains UV protection which is always good.
The web site is very good, especially if you are into cosmetics. There is an information overload and lots of downloadable images of the stars that have participated in the ad campaigns. ALSO there are lots and lots of various L'Oreal freebie sample offers scattered throughout the site both full and trial sized. That includes a sample of REVITALIFT.

Wow, what a gorgeous product! So smooth and makes your skin feel fresh again!
Does it work? Answer: YES (from day 1)
There are so many products out there that promise to reduce wrinkles, but this one actually does!
Revitalift made my skin feel firmer from the first moment I used it.
It is an excellent base too for foundation and it is well worth the money. ( between £13-£15 depending on the store)
It comes in a neat dispenser which is easy to ...
