If you saw a list of words like the following: 'Finity-Calorie-Extension-Builder-Art-Architect-Curl-Discovery' which beauty product enters your mind? Is it mascara-because this is what these words represent? I have a dozen or so mascaras regimentally laid out in front of me like a row of soldiers. All of them have been part used and then abandoned as none of them do the job I want them to. I want a mascara that lengthens and thickens my eyelashes; I want a mascara that doesn't clog them into blackened clumps but remain individual; I want a mascara that doesn't smudge but is easily removed by my preferred cleansing routine; I want a mascara that leaves my eyelashes soft and nourished and not brittle and hard; I want a mascara that doesn't irritate my eyes; I want my mascara to have a neat brush that doesn't stick in my eye when I apply; Some of the mascaras laid out in front of me reach some of my expectations, but none of them achieve all of them.
I bought L'Oreal Double Extension by mistake as I thought I was buying L'Oreal Lash Architect in the silver tube. As soon as I removed the wand from the packaging it seemed very bulky and with good reason as it is double ended. One end is black mascara with applicator and the other end is white mascara again with applicator. I almost returned it unused to Superdrug as the very idea of white mascara appalled me. However, the white mascara acts as a primer base coat on the lashes to be followed by the ultra-lengthening mascara. But is was so cack-handed to get used to this process and so time consuming that I almost gave up on the first application. Eventually I got the hang of it and this is my chosen method in order to get the best results from L'Oreal Double Extension Mascara.
I use my eyelashes curlers on clean lashes and then apply the primer to one set of lashes and within seconds apply the black mascara from the other end. This is fiddly and at first I got my hands covered in mascara as I forgot to turn the wand around. White mascara is difficult to see so beware of coating the lashes with too much as then the primer will go clumpy and consequently so will the applied black mascara. I stand by the window in a natural light for the first stage and found it disconcerting to see a set of white lashes-as if I was heading for frostbite. Don't do as I did and apply the white primer to upper and lower lashes all in one go. Of course it is simpler to do it that way because of having to keep changing ends which is a nuisance but I soon got used to applying mascara using a completely different process. I believe the secret is to apply the black mascara on top of the primer when it is still moist ensuring clump free coverage.
With just one coat of the black mascara, applied easily from the root to the tip, the effect was very impressive. My lashes seemed to double in length and thickness without looking spidery and there was no evidence of clumping-my lashes remained silky looking and individual. One coat was enough for day-wear and a double application is great for night time. Reluctantly confessing that I don't always remove my make-up when I go to bed (Sluttish I know) I woke up in the morning with this mascara completely intact and not a smudge to be seen. The L'Oreal Double Extension Mascara passed the brittle test too as my lashes also felt and looked soft even after sleeping. Using my usual face cleansing wipes every trace of mascara was removed without rubbing, although not all face cleansing wipes removed it, just the ones that claim to remove make-up and certainly not the exfoliating wipes-steer clear of those.
I know that some mascara irritate my eyes but during my six weeks of using this L'Oreal product I have had no adverse reactions. This product is allergy tested but I understand they do test on animals and there are several protest groups campaigning against this practice so buying this L'Oreal product is up to the consumer.
The L'Oreal Double Extension Mascara passed all my criteria except perhaps the necessary bulkiness of the wand due to there having to be two useable ends although the brush is nicely shaped and reaches into the corners. I am also concerned that the white mascara is going to run dry before the black mascara even though both applicators consist of 6ml the product. Apart from this the product is excellent. No smudging, no brittleness, no clumping, removes easily, lashes look instantly thick, long and healthy and an affordable price of around seven pounds.
Advantages: Boostls up your lashes!!! Disadvantages: None-at-all!!!
...boots and went to the L'Oreal section, where a lady who works there saw me looking through a shelf and placed on it was this mascara and also L'Oreal Paris Volume Shocking Double Mascara, which are both quite similar mascaras. So I asked for her advice and she told me that the L'Oreal Paris Volume Shocking Double Mascara was shaped as a comb so it would make your lashes bulky and stuck together (which also looks drop-dead-gorgeous, I'm not saying ... ...on, like me) to use L'Oreal Double Extension Mascara….you wont believe your eyes!!! It'll boost your lashes to the EXTREME!!! I may sound like I am over-reacting but believe me it seriously looks like my lashes are fake and that they aren't even mine…I couldn't believe they were mine and neither did anyone else who saw me!!! I absolutely L-O-V-E this mascara, it's definitely the mascara for me and it's my number ONE make up product!!!

Advantages: Lengthens and defines lashes, good value for money Disadvantages: Not clump-free
When I was at school, there was a girl in our class who we called Clara the Cow. This was a term of endearment, not an insult. The reason being that she had the most gorgeous long curly eyelashes. You see, Clara was also a cow in a nearby field who had long, lovely eyelashes. Whenever I look at beauty products for the eyes (mascaras, eyelash curlers, or eyeliners), my ambition is always to look as much as possible as Clara the Cow! As soon as I saw ... ...product that turned me into a bovine beauty! ** WHAT IS SPECIAL ABOUT THIS MASCARA? ** You may have seen the adverts with Natalie Imbruglia waggling her fingers at you – “Don’t wimp out … It’s the power tool to make your lashes feel stronger and look 60% longer. Because you’re worth it”
This is no ordinary mascara – it is a mascara with two brushes – one white and one coloured (in my case black). So what does this mean?
* The white brush is a base ...

Advantages: makes lashes look dark Disadvantages: clumpy, runs, hard to remove, sticks lashes together
...rights, i do know that L'Oreal are amongst the companies that still test on animals. Not suitable for the consciencious buyer. This is probably why it isn't irritating to the eyes at all, however.
The only advantage i have found, is that it is very, very lengthening. For those with shorter lashes, as i found when i tried it out on a friend, it gives a big boost to the length, and can look good for a night out.
In terms of how long the product lasts; ... ...weeks, has dried out a lot, making it even more clumpy and hard to apply. Whilst the mascara itself is quite big, it's short life time means it doesn't make it good value for money. It's also not particularly practical as it won't fit into that all-important undersized handbag. All in all, i wouldn't recommend this mascara unless you a) have too much money and b) have really, really short eyelashes and enjoy the clown look. ...

...neighbour informed me of the L'Oreal Double extension product she had purchased and hated...... so I could have this instead.Anything to oblige- and save a tenner , I decided to accept her offer.
Her displeasure with the item was due to having long lashes in the first place, after using the L'Oreal product, her lashes felt 6inches longer!! Having barely any lashes myself, I thought yea, I will definitely give it a go.
So, here we are a fortnight ... ...these enormous lashes, and before we could stop ourselves we just burst out laughing. Her response was of course to threaten us with 'Childline'. We didnt really mean to laugh, and neither is this a negative reaction to the product. Her eyelashes just dominated her whole appearance. Luckily for her she already has the most wonderful long thick lashes, so she wouldnt need this product now or ever. She reminded me of Bette Davis in the film 'Whatever ...

Advantages: Thickens, lengthens and conditions lashes! All at once!! Disadvantages: None!
I first bought this in boots for £9.99 and have loved it ever since. Unfortunately I wasn't blessed with long, thick eyelashes, but short stubbly ones, and this is the only product that I have found that makes a difference to them. It doesn't make my lashes go flaky and it lasts all day unlike most others.
Design: This brilliant product comes in a thick tube with a nice design. At one end the product is white, which is the primer. At the other end ... ...in the middle with the brand and product name printed on it. Primer: This primer is really wonderful. My eyelashes are very short and ever since I was 12 I have been looking for a product good enough to lengthen and volumise at the same time without being clumpy. And then I found this. The white base coat really lengthens the lashes, whilst conditioning them at the same time, my eyelashes were twice as long as before application, and when the mascara ...

I bought this fab mascara from www.saveonmakeup.co.uk for the amazing price of just £2.99, the RRP is £6.49 but I have seen it in boots etc for over £8 so I was very pleased! (I have also reviewed saveonmakeup.co.uk so if you want to find out more about them have a read). I am still very pleased with my l'orealdoubleextensionmascara (also reviewed) but fancied a lighter, more natural mascara for the summer season. Advantages: Makes Eyelashes Longer Disadvantages: Expensive, not as good as other L'oreal mascaras but pricier
This is a fairly good mascara.
I found the wand a bit difficult to use as its more of a comb than a brush and it is quite short so it was fiddly to get to the lashes at the corners of my eyes. It made my eyelashes look longer but not really much thicker which was disappointing give the price tag.
I prefer the L'orealDoubleExtensionMascara. The wand is easier to use and it makes your eyelashes look thicker as well as longer and it doesn't cost as much.
I also found that the mascara ran out quite quickly but this could have been due to me piling it on to try and get my lashes to look fuller.
I think it would be well-suited to someone whos eyelashes are thick but short.
Overall I'd say that this is a good mascara but not really worth the £10.99 price tag. Espeacially when L'oreal make a better mascara for cheaper. ...
Advantages: Good Black side, nicely seperated lashes Disadvantages: Crappy White side, not promised results.
So I was browsing around the chemist, looking at the mascaras. Usually my staple mascara is L'OrealsDoubleExtension, but I really couldn't afford £10 this time round, and I fancied a little change. I'm also a person who is addicted to 2- step mascaras, and I now find it hard to buy a 'normal' one as I don't find I'm getting enough volume!
So anyway, I was browsing around when I found this. I really would have preferred the 'Intense XXL' version, but this plain XXL one had £2 knocked off so price won and I paid a pretty reasonable £6.99. Onto the mascara.
If you didn't already know, this is a two step mascara, consisting of a white primer (or base coat) and a black mascara. The packaging is a blister pack, which is unusual for a mascara, but I quite like it as I know no- one has been fiddling with my mascara or testing it in ...
