I bought this mascara after all the advertising hype (yes, i really am that gullible) and recommendations from friends and family. After buying it, and trying it, i really do not understand what all the fuss was about.
Firstly, it cost £10, which whilst this isn't bad for a really good mascara, and certainly not as expensive as some designers, i really object to paying this much for something as poor quality as this. However, they are widely available from pretty much any high street store with a cosmetics department.
In terms of application, the two ends make it really difficult to apply. Whilst the first coat goes on fairly easily, the over coat in black/brown looks spidery, sticks all your lashes together and makes you look ridiculous. Even an eyelashbrush fails to un-stick what appears to be only two lashes. If you, like me, are a fan of natural looking lashes, this mascara is a really bad idea. I also have quite long lashes anyway, and this mascara had a tendency to blot itself on my eyelids, leaving lovely black splodges beneath my eyebrows. It also is quite clumpy.
This is not a waterproof mascara, and i even found it ran in the heat, making me look a little like a panda. Despite this, it resists complete removal with even an eye make-up remover, so that in the morning i had dark black shadows from the mascara, no matter how thoroughly i thought i had removed it.
Although i am not particularly up to speed on animal rights, i do know that L'Oreal are amongst the companies that still test on animals. Not suitable for the consciencious buyer. This is probably why it isn't irritating to the eyes at all, however.
The only advantage i have found, is that it is very, very lengthening. For those with shorter lashes, as i found when i tried it out on a friend, it gives a big boost to the length, and can look good for a night out.
In terms of how long the product lasts; not very long. Mine, after only a month or six weeks, has dried out a lot, making it even more clumpy and hard to apply. Whilst the mascara itself is quite big, it's short life time means it doesn't make it good value for money. It's also not particularly practical as it won't fit into that all-important undersized handbag.
All in all, i wouldn't recommend this mascara unless you a) have too much money and b) have really, really short eyelashes and enjoy the clown look.
