Now first of all I don’t think I am too vain a person and a lot of the time I prefer to use a natural product if I can, even if that means buying a fragrance free Shampoo and Conditioner and adding my own choice of essential oils, lately though this has not been an option and this is how I got this Shampoo and Conditioner.
It was on special offer first of all and was 2.69 for both the Shampoo and the Conditioner, add to that it was ... ...teenage input was required, you see the problem was I had not specified which or what kind of shampoo I wanted.
I can just imagine hubby stood in front of a mountain of products wondering what kind to get, in the end my daughter picked out this one saying “ It will be good”.

Shampoo – L’oreal Elvive Smooth Intense Shampoo with new Anti Frizz long lasting protection, with Nutrileum ( What a mouthful).
Bottle
The shouldered bottle is almost see through but has an amber coloured tint to it, the shampoo itself is amber coloured and so increases the attractive amber look. I has a Bronze coloured flip top cap with a gold stripe and the lettering is all in shades of brown and gold.
The claims
This shampoo claims to be aimed at dry, coarse and rebellious hair, apparently it nourishes, calms and smoothes leaving a sleek manageable result. It is recommended that you use the same conditioner for best results.
The back of the bottle goes into a bit more detail, the shampoo contains Nutrileum, this is fruit micro oil combined with a smoothing agent, the Nutrileum is absorbed into the hair shaft calming and smoothing. I was told that all this would mean my hair would be free of frizz and smooth and manageable, by the time you have read all this you will become a bit brainwashed but don’t worry it will pass.
I found.
To be honest I was really disappointed, the shampoo was very very runny, you didn’t have to squeeze the bottle, after some gentle massaging it did manage to produce a lather but it did not feel like a rich one at all. I was expecting to be able to feel the lather as a rich and moisurising one because of the claims on the bottle.
It smells well fragranced I can’t put my finger on what it is, it is not unpleasant though and it does not linger so it’s not that much of a problem.
The bottle says use a hazelnut sized amount but I found that with having quite long hair I needed to use more of a walnut and it was an effort to get a lather going with this amount, time and patience required here.
All in all I was not happy with the shampoo and after rinsing it off my hair I was hoping that the conditioner would prove to be the missing ingredient.
Conditioner
The Bottle
The Elvive conditioner comes again in a shouldered bottle containing 200 mls, this bottle is also amber coloured with the same lettering in gold and brown.
The big difference is that the bottle stands on the flip top cap, it is a lot easier as you can get more or less all the conditioner out without any fuss.
The Claims.
The same as is on the shampoo bottle complete with natty little diagram of how Nutrileum works with a little before and after shot.
I found.
I thought the conditioner would live up to the expectations I had as it was much thicker and richer feeling, I used enough to coat my hair from root to tip as there was no advice on how much to use. The bottle tells you to use this conditioner straight after washing so no need to pat hair dry before applying, the smell I got from it was the same as the shampoo, a non specific floralish smell. The colour of the conditioner was no surprise, a pale amberish colour.
After carefully applying I left in on my hair for 2 minutes, it states on the bottle just 1 but I really felt it needed extra time and then rinsed.
I was disappointed again, when my hair was rinsed clean I knew straight away that it had not helped my hair at all, normally I can feel the lack of tangles in my hair and it lies flat when well conditioned, I had to use a leave in conditioner just to get the tangles out which is not good.
Conclusion
All I can say is that this shampoo and conditioner did not help my hair at all, I don’t know if it is just me but I felt very disappointed and let down. I would like to know if anyone has found this any good but for this long haired brunette with dry and coloured hair it was a waste of money.
I did not give up though after using it once in case anyone is wondering, I kept using it for a week with the same results and so I think I gave it a fair chance. I guess that sometimes we all expect the best from a product when you have used the same companies products and found them to be great, you are enticed by the overwhelming information sometimes as well and nobody is immune, most of all not me.
Out of interest I did ring the Expert Advice Line 0845 399 1939 but despite waiting for 10 minutes I gave up.

Advantages: It actually works (well, to a point), lathers up nicely AND rinses off well, smells nice Disadvantages: Don't expect miracles
(It's a real shame you can't include exclamation marks in titles over here!)
I’m the advertising agents’ best friend. I fall for the hype. When a new product comes on the market I am often sceptical UNTIL I see an advert for it. It is on this moment that my mind gets warped and twisted. My eyes start to glaze over, I start dribbling and I start reciting “must buy, must buy”. Ok, so maybe I exaggerated just a little bit but ... ...adverts. If someone came on during a commercial break and told me that a new hair shampoo had come on the market and it would transform hair for life after just one wash I’d believe them. Even though I know full well that’s just impossible (barring perhaps a whole hair (or head) transplant)! As for the discussion Richard and Judy had the other day about people ignoring adverts. All I say is boll*cks. Yes some adverts are annoying and ...

Advantages: cheap, smells lovely, really works Disadvantages: none i can think of
L’Oreal is a brand I haven’t used in over a year now. I love to change shampoo’s and conditioners all the time as im a little hair obsessed. My hair is very long and about medium thickness, but it is certainly frizz prone. The price is around £2.50 for each bottle.
I bought this one a few weeks ago in an attempt to calm down my newly coloured frizzy hair and can only say wow!
The packaging
The shampoo comes in a long rusty coloured bottle that ... ...rusty coloured but this tapers towards the bottom. The conditioner bottle also stands on its head which means the cap is what it is stood on making it easy to come out even to the last little bit. The packaging is nothing special but the shampoo and conditioner do come out very easily with little effort, which is great for slippery hands in the shower.
Fragrance
Being a fan of fruit fusions shampoo I never thought I would find a fragranced shampoo ...

Advantages: smells yummy, makes my hair gorgeous Disadvantages: none for me
...plastic-y. I recently discovered L'Oreal Elvive Smooth Intense shampoo and conditioner and am pleased with the results.
Why I started using Elvive Smooth Intense:
My hair is long, thick, dark and has a mind of its own. It doesn't enjoy combs, blowdryers and longs to be mosturized and coddled. As I wash my hair every day (I am quite into sports), I require a shampoo to be mild, pleasant smelling and relatively inexpensive. Elvive smooth intense ... ...in Switzerland where I live, it costs CHF 4.95 (about £2.50) for the 250ml bottle of shampoo and CHF 5.95 for the 200ml bottle of conditioner (about £3.00), so it is a quality product at an affordable price (it sells here under the name of 'Elsève'). It is sold almost everywhere where haircare products are sold and comes in a snazzy orange coloured bottle with the golden elvive/elsève symbol on the front. The conditioner bottle stands on its cap ...

Advantages: clean and shiney managable hair Disadvantages: a bit on the expensive side
I hardly ever like to use a two in one shampoo and prefer to use both shampoo and conditioner seperately as this seems to smoothen the hair and help to get the knots out.
I have long hair and it takes ages to get it into the condition I like, as it knots up quickly and is dry because I have dyed it with crazy colour and bleached it a few times over the summer months. So at the moment I'm trying lots of different shampoo's to find one which will ... ...this L`Oreal Elvive Smooth Intense to be just the sort of shampoo I'm looking for.
L`Oreal Elvive make shampoo and conditioner for all types of hair, from dry to greasy, fine to colour damaged, their web address is www.lorealparis.com and they have a phone number 0845 3991939 for any consumer questions.
The bottle of Smooth Intensive is an attractive orange coloured plastic so can be recycled when empty, the one I bought is a 200ml sized bottle ...

Advantages: Makes your hair, soft, silky and shiny :) Disadvantages: None I can think of
...to no avail. Until...
L'Oreal Elvive Smooth Intense arrived on the scene! I was immediately attracted to the orangey bottle, and being a daring girl, I decided to waste all of my allowance on shampoo at Boots. My mum was furious, but hey, I didn't mind. I had a new shampoo to try out!
When I got home, I immediately climbed into the bath, washed my hair once with Perfect Curls (for old time's sake), and opened the bottle. A lovely, sort of fruity ... ...bit out of the well designed bottle. It didn't take long for it to lather up, indeed, half the time it took for PC to gather it's soapy bubbles and rub itself into my scalp. I basically just squirted some into my hand, put some shamp' at the front of my hair, and it pretty much frothed up. I left it on for a minute, I think, and then rinsed it off.
And what a difference! No longer was I Rosi - girl with bird's nest hair, I was Rosi - smooth criminal. ...

Advantages: Wasn't too expensive, texture and smell is nice Disadvantages: Left hair dry at ends and greasy at roots
it was the worst shampoo and conditioner I had ever used and found that my friend said that she found it to be horrible as well. She went on to describe how dry it had left her hair, apart from the top where it was greasy. I told her that this had happened in exactly the same way to me.
Anyway, to make a long story not so long, I would never recommend this to anyone. It was vile and horrible. If you want glossy and shiny hair then I would recommend L'OrealElviveSmooth-Intense. I have written a review on this other one, so feel free to look it up if you wish.
On a slight plus note, this shampoo and conditioner does smell nice and it has a nice texture. Unfortunately that is it.
In case you wish to try this for yourself (although I strongly recommend against this), the prices are on average as follows:-
£2.98 for 400ml (taken ...
Advantages: An pleasant enough smell. Disadvantages: Leaves my hair feeling a tad tangled!
It has to be noted that I only tried this product due to a free sample.

As already stated I received this as a free sample and it lasted 5 washes so I am reviewing the short-term effects of the product.

* The Ceramide-R it contains helps repair microsplits ...
