...at Asda and noticed that L'Oreal Elvive had a shampoo that was marketed directly for men which claimed to be body-building and thickening. I couldn't find anything else other than the usual volume shampoo's which was really aimed at women, so as it wasn't pink and didn't have an organsmic looking woman on the front, I decided to buy it.
PACKAGING
The bottle is much the same shape as a standard shampoo bottle, a silvery grey ... ...top and is nice and sturdy and easy to handle.
The bottle contains 250ml and cost £1.98 at Asda.
WHAT ITS CLAIMS ARE
It is aimed at men and claims to strengthen and thicken hair by using the ingredient, Regenium-Xy. It states that this is a technological innovation which acts directly from the root of the hair to fortify and thicken it.
It is mean't to be used on fine, thinning hair which lacks fullness, manageability ... more
My 19 year old son was moaning a few months ago that his hair was too fine and he couldn't do anything with it (yes, its not just us women who have bad hair days). Now, I must mention that he is a little obsessed with his hair, as long as thats looking great it doesn't matter about anything else! Also, I think he's getting a bit concerned because his dad started losing his hair around the same age. So, he asked me if there was anything I could buy to make his hair thicker. I said I'd have a look next time I went shopping to see what was about. I scanned the shampoo section at Asda and noticed that L'Oreal Elvive had a shampoo that was marketed directly for men which claimed to be body-building and thickening. I couldn't find anything else other than the usual volume shampoo's which was really aimed at women, so as it wasn't pink and didn't have an organsmic looking woman on the front, I decided to buy it.
PACKAGING The bottle is much the same shape as a standard shampoo bottle, a silvery grey colour with black and burgundy lettering. It has a flip top and is nice and sturdy and easy to handle. The bottle contains 250ml and cost £1.98 at Asda.
WHAT ITS CLAIMS ARE It is aimed at men and claims to strengthen and thicken hair by using the ingredient, Regenium-Xy. It states that this is a technological innovation which acts directly from the root of the hair to fortify and thicken it. It is mean't to be used on fine, thinning hair which lacks fullness, manageability and lack of control. It should also give you a denser head of hair with more scalp coverage.
CONSISTANCY AND USE The shampoo is white and has a lovely creamy, silky consistency, which flows from the bottle easily without having to squeeze it out. It smells very nice, very much like mens aftershave products. You only need to use about the size of a 10p coin on your palm, rubbed together, as it lathers up really well and goes a long way.
RESULTS My son has been using this shampoo now for a few months and the results are really excellent. You can really see and feel the difference in his hair. The texture is much better as well as looking much thicker and in much better condition generally.
I can also give my own personal opinion, as I pinched some one day when I ran out of shampoo, and little does he know, but I've used it ever since! I also have fine hair, but it has seemed to be thinner as well over the last year or so due to going through a premature menopause. I have found that the results I have had with this shampoo are staggering. My hair is completely different. It is much thicker, glossier, much better texture and it styles really easily. In fact, I would say that my hair is back like it was when I was younger.
The shampoo is lovely to use and even though it hasn't got a very feminine smell, by the time I've used styling products on my hair, you can't smell it anyway. So, all you women out there, don't be mislead by the 'for men', because it is the best shampoo I've ever used! (And that goes for my son as well). I really can't recommend it enough.
Advantages: Impressive results, smells really nice, a little goes a long way. Disadvantages: It says it is just for men!
...This shampoo was designed by L'oreal for men with thinning hair. It is relatively new to the market and it claims it can strengthen, thicken and add body and control to your hair.
It claims on the back of the bottle that after 10 years of research L'oreal have managed to duplicate one of the essential natural ingredients that is vital to the hair, and they have combined that with an active agent to create Regenium-XY.
It is the Regenium-XY that ... ...claims it can.
******************DIRECTIONS OF USE*******************
There is no special technique to this shampoo, you simply wet your hair, work in the shampoo and rinse. There is no waiting time for it to start working. You then style as you would normally.
*************************SMELL************************
This product smells really nice, considering it is a mans product. It is not at all too masculine, in fact it is very pleasant.

Advantages: Thickens hair, gives more coverage and makes you feel good Disadvantages: You have to buy it and fight the women off.
For those like me who are thinning on top, Elvive For Men Thickening Shampoo really does thicken hair. I have been using it for 3 months and noticed a significant improvement – I am more than a happy wispy. My hair has thickened and looks a lot better, with an increase in hold and covering power. It even stays where I want it to be and not everywhere the wind dictates. USING IT:
I do nothing different than I did before using this shampoo, the same ... ...of time as I did before I started using it. It is formulated for frequent use and is strong enough to be able to create a good lather with a small amount - simply lather, rinse, repeat. As it works on the hair as you wash it, what more can I ask for. It is the same squeaky-clean non-slimy condition as it always has been, but with added body. PACKAGING:
It says it’s for men, but my guess is it’s much more subtle than that, and has been designed to ...

Advantages: Helps men look less bald Disadvantages: marketed just at men
This shampoo is in the “for men” range but since my boyfriend brought it for himself I have been using it as well. It is meant to be for fine, thinning hair, designed for those men with bad genes giving them male pattern baldness!
Its used just like a normal shampoo and can be used frequently. It has the usual ingredients you find in shampoo except they say that they have a special technology called “regenium-XY”. This is ... ...thicken it to produce thicker hair that covers more of those barely covered areas on a mans head. Although I'mnot convinced that this is anything special, the shampoo is quite good. Being a thickening shampoo I would suggest that if you are a woman and have thin hair then this is also a good choice.
The bottle is silver rather than white like most of the other shampoo’s in L’Oreal’s range, pitching it more towards the male market. ...
