Advantages easy to use

Disadvantages dyes your skin

I consider myself to be somewhat of a hair dying expert, having dyed my hair practically every colour possible since the age of 15! I decided to try L'Oreal Feria Colour in the shade of Dark Blonde. Why? Because I liked the colour!

It is very easy to mix up the dye, and the instructions included are very easy to follow.

You use this hair dye in the same way that you would with any other brand. Start by washing your hair first (although I always do it with dry hair, as I find it much easier to see if you've missed a bit!). After doing this part your hair into sections and start applying the dye. I find it easiest to start at the bottom and work my way up. After I've done the whole head of hair, if I have any leftover I will squeeze it all out onto anywhere on my head and massage it all in, just to make sure that everywhere is completely covered. Once you have done your whole head then you wait 40 minutes before washing it off.

After washing it off I noticed that actually I had a lot of stains on my body, eg, my shoulders and back, where my hair had been touching the skin. In hindsight I should have tied up my hair for the 40 minutes and spent that time scrubbing off the dye from my skin!! As well as that there were a few marks on my face and ears, which took about 10 minutes of scrubbing to remove!

The main issue for me was that my scalp had been dyed brown!! It was really obvious and I can't think of a way to apply the dye without it getting on your scalp unless you don't cover your roots!! To get rid of it I actually had to scratch off the skin on my scalp and then wash it afterwards again, and that seemed to do the trick but was annoying to have to do it in the first place!

I have had a similar problem with hair dyes doing this in the past, so I don't think it is necessarily a fault just for this specific problem, but it was definitely the hardest to remove!

The packet contains a small bottle of conditioner to use when washing off the dye and I must say I REALLY liked this!! It made my hair feel silky smooth and made a noticeable difference instantly! It lasts for a few washes, and I was really impressed.

I didn't have too many issues with the colour fading, and it looked quite natural too. My hair wasn't dried out too much by the hair dye, and all in all I would definitely use this product again!
