Advantages: good colour Disadvantages: unclear instructions
I admit I bought this because it was a half price offer in Boots and I' have probably tried every other one on the market-I hate having boring hair! The little brush that comes with it is a little bit daunting and I'm never usuallt the best person to die my own hair-the bathromm carpet at home and the towels will lay testament to that! So I had a friend to do it. After reading the not so clear instructions a few times we set off!
Instructions in ... ...purple hazy drawings of a svelte beauty with perfect hair. It says not to use it on grey hair-I did. I'm only 19 and I have about 10 grey hairs, but I can't see them anymore so it must have worked. I think the idea is not to use it on obviously grey hair! I am quite pleased with the colour although It is not very streaky. I think this is due more to a misapplication than anything else. The colour is not too daring so could be good for those who are ...

Advantages: very natural streaks, just where you want them Disadvantages: usual messiness, probably less than other colourants though
After countless failures with home hair colouring I decided to have one last try at a DIY hair change. I selected Feria Contraste because I did not want an all over, very unnatural effect and it seemed to be just what I was looking for. Having an evening to myself I set to work. I was delighted to find how easy it was to use (and I have very long hair). Certainly anyone with short hair should give it a go, but start with a colour similar to your own ... ...has to be worth taking a chance. I used a quite deep red colour as my own hair is a mousy sort of auburn. To begin with I just did a few strands - you need to only take tiny strands of hair if you want a natural effect. I was so pleased with the result that I became more adventurous and did some more. It is important to note however that you must not store the product once opened as the chemicals change (you could possibly end up with green hair). ...

Advantages: good on shorter hair Disadvantages: rather fiddly and hard on long hair
Given a long history of dyeing and streaking and perming and straight perming my hair, the condition of my hair isn't what you would call tip top. But I don't really learn I feel, always tempted when it all gets a little boring and I feel like a change. Maybe when I'm a bit older, but not really at the moment. My wallet's also suffered, so this time, I felt that yet another trip to the salon wasn't really justified on a whim, so I went around the ... ...cut price (!) Thankfully a friend of mine wanted a change as well, so we thought we would do it together as neither of us had ever DIY-ed our hair. After countless minutes spent agonizing in Boots, we came to the conclusion that this product was perhaps the safest best, though it was permanent, surely highlights couldn't go that wrong. I chose a medium shade of brown to go with my dark hair while my friend went the other way and chose a blonde to ...

Very subtle Review ofL'Oreal Feria Contrasteby
DeborahB
Advantages: easy to use Disadvantages: smells a bit grim
Being a bit of a colour virgin, the word “permanent” on the box gave me a bit of the collywobbles. I have only ever done temporary colour before. I decided on the Sunflower contrast in my mid-brown (Ok – mousy) hair. The pack was easy to use – you kind of brush the mixture through dry hair, so it is easy to see where you are putting it, and you actually feel like you are in control of the colour. After it is left on for the amount of time, you rinse ...

Advantages: Bold Colour, cheaper than going to a salon. Disadvantages: Very hard to apply.
...why I decided to give L'Oreal Feria Contraste a go, (along with the fact it was half price in boots!). Although it was permenant, I thought that running a brush with colourant on it (as shown on the box, see above) couldn't be that hard. I thought wrong!
Firstly, you had to seperate the hair you wanted to colour from that you didn't. Then, apply the colourant with a brush (why?) and massage it into your hair.
Leave for 30 mins, lather it up with ... ...that difficult, and probably isn't to those who have more experience with dye, but I somehow managed ro get the dye all over the bathroom, and all over my hair.
Not only did I end up with the top of my head being all one colour and completely sreakless, I also had an awful colour nothing like I expected. Even though I only paid £3.99 for it, as opposed to the full price of around £6-7, depending on where you shop, I felt I had wasted my money.

Advantages: Specific lightening for darker hair Disadvantages: development time
...I have used L'orealFeria on a few occassions - they do one where you apply the colour with a brush which is FeriaContraste - this supposedly gives you the more natural look - you get to pick where to brush it on - but in all honesty mine just came out in a block of colour on the top layer of hair.
But they also do Feria Color Booster which is an all over one which is Mult-faceted and picks the highlights in conjunction with you natural hair colour.
This is the one i shall review.
I am very dark brown and chose Feria P15 Red Flash Brown.
There are very few colours available for brown hair that are visible - let me put that another way - that is if you want to stay brown - but a lighter brown. Most colours for brown hair take you a shade darker or a completely different colour altogether.
This was not what i wanted - i...
