Nutritive – for dry and damaged hair
Resistance – for weakened or fine hair
Sensitive – for sensitive scalps but suitable for all hair types
Specifique – for problem hair and scalps (this really clears up dandruff. If you have found nothing else works I would really recommend this range) ...sun, sea, wind and chlorinated water
Within these “families” there are a variety of shampoos, conditioners and styling products designed specifically for that type of hair. If you don’t know which products you should be using or are trying them for the first time ask for a consultation with your stylist or shampooist as they should be able to recommend the best range for your particular hair type.
First of all Kerastase products are made by L’Oreal and are the top of the range shampoos and conditioners available on the market. They are only available in designated salons and cannot be bought in supermarkets or from stores like boots or superdrug. There should in theory be only one salon in a certain area allowed to sell the products. Another fact is you will never see a TV advert for Kerastase.

The retail shampoos are only available in the 250ml size (I find this lasts about 3-4 months) and start in price from about £7 upwards depending on the range you choose. Unfortunately L’Oreal have just put these prices up but you still get value for money as you should only be using a very small amount of the product, so like for like with another brand you will be saving money even though the initial cost is higher.
The shampoos have conditions to go with them and these vary in size, price and how they should be used. You have the choice of leave in or rinse out depending on your hair type.
Also available to be used in the salon as a treatment or to buy is Aqua Oleam, this is a conditioner that lasts for up to 5 shampoos and Vita-Ciment which increases the internal hair strength by 56% (great if you colour or perm your hair). They are only available in 15ml bottles but usually can be used for 2 applications.
The packaging of the products isn’t that great, all shampoos come in plastic oval shaped bottles, colour coded depending on their family. The bottles are obviously used all over the world because every language is catered for on the front and back of the bottles and to make matter worse they have recently renamed most of the products. Ahh how confusing!!!
Final tip from me is to keep and eye out for promotions near christmas, last year it was buy three products and get a funky filofax type thing for free. The most recent which is running at the moment is buy 2 products and get a really nice photo frame free.
To conclude, a very respected company in regards to hair care products and the fact I have been using them for the past 20 years probably sums up how good they really are. I hope this has helped, if you need any more information feel free to e-mail me. I will hopefully get round to writing a review on each of the individual products soon so stay tuned.
Advantages: High quality products Disadvantages: expensive
I really love and trust the Kerastase range. They are sold in hairdressers only so have always retained a mysterious, exclusive allure which lends a thrill to the fact of purchasing one of their products...
The fact that the products are expensive- think £10.00 for shampoos, and not less than £15.00 for conditioners, masks and specialised products- adds to the feeling of luxury.
I have tried many of their potions over the years (mostly aimed at ... ...First of all, the only products of theirs I would not recommend are the shampoos. I find it is useless to spend so much on a shampoo, which is basically detergent, and that you are better spending the cash on conditioners and masks. The Kerastase shampoos, I find, are too rich and end of making the hair look dull and heavy. I had to move to a lighter shampoo than the one I was using (bain Satin, lovely name!).
However, The hair mask from The Satin ...

Advantages: Great results, nice smell, great for damaged hair and great range Disadvantages: Slighty expensive.
I must admit I am a bit of a spend freak, especially when it comes to hair products. I have tried just about every designer hair product on the market and have been sucked in by all the 'wild' claims about how various hair products can dramatically change the condition and look of your hair. Most of the time I am left disappointed and skint!
The Kerastase ranges are probably the only products that I repeatedly buy and am never disappointed with ... ...products than other products, such as Phillip Kingsley which cost £18 for a small shampoo and £18 for a conditioner (both of which last only a very short time). My hair is very damaged (thanks to the overuse of hair straighteners-all of which will ultimately damage your hair whatever they may claim). It is also frizzy, dry but can get quite greasy at the roots and can lack body. In addition I have coloured it in the past. Therefore there are many ...

Advantages: Makes hair silky, shiny and manageable + smells divine! Disadvantages: Can be hard to find
I first dicovered L'Oreal Kerestase Ciment when i was training to be a hairdresser, i started out shampooing peoples hair, and when i first used this product the first thing i noticed was the smell, it is divine!! Its so fruity and fresh, its unlike any other hair product you have ever smelt.
WHAT IS IT?
Kerestase Ciment is a conditioner that mends the hair. It is perfect for over processed hair, particularly bleached, permed or heat damaged hair.
... ...it goes deep into the hair.
i think its excellent value for money even at £14.00
WHERE CAN I GET IT
Like i said your best bet is ebay but if you go to a salon that uses L'oreal they should be able to get for you. ...

Advantages: Fabulous defined curls Disadvantages: Expensive
After using nearly every possible type & range of product designed for curly hair I have actually found something that does what it says on the bottle...
I already use other Kerastase products in the Nutritive range & I thought I would give the Elasto-Curl cream for Thick, Curly hair a try. Definitely no mistake!
It leaves your hair with nicely defined, bouncy, lightweight curls with absolutely no greasiness nor frizz. The best thing of all is ... ...that crispy look that other products such as mousse can leave. The cream is long lasting & is not one of those products that needs topping up half way through a night out.
The cream has a pleasant floral smell quite uniform to Kerastase conditioners. The thick, non-sticky, white cream is easily applied. And quite importantly (to me) it washes off the hands after the first attempt.
It is a highly concentrated cream so a little goes a long way.

Reviews which might be of interest for "L'Oreal Kerastase"
If it wasn't for hair serum, I'd probably never leave the house. Without it, my long, thick, curly hair is just one big mass of frizz, and anyone seeing me in the street would think that wonderful 1970's cartoon 'The Hair Bear Bunch' had come to life.
Over the years I've used every single make of serum I've found in the shops: Frizz-Ease, Nicky Clarke, Trevor Sorbie, Charles Worthington, Boots Trichologie etc. etc. ad infinitum. And while they all made a significant improvement to my hair, they were hardly miracle workers.
Recently, however, I discovered a serum that really is the answer to frizzy hair prayers. That product is a serum from the L'OrealKerastase Oleo Relax range.
Oleo Relax is the Kerastase solution for very frizzy or dry hair, and comprises, shampoo, hair masque (conditioner) and serum. You can't get ...
, or over-condition it.
The L'OrealKerastase range doesn’t come cheap – the serum is approx. £12 a bottle. At 125 mls though, it’s a biggie. Shampoo and conditioner is usually in the £8 - £12 range. But they are sooo worth it! You only need a small amount of these products, and so they last for ages. You hair doesn’t become ‘immune’ to them over time. And if you order from lookfantastic.com, you can usually bag a decent discount.
Are you sold yet?!
I’ll give you one last anti-frizz tip:
In the Autumn time, you can save your hair from all kinds of nasty external ravages, simply be wearing a wolly hat. Yup, a hat. As recommended by your granny – but actually, as worn by all the most stylish people.
I have a wee ‘hat family’. Bought mainly from gap, Accessorise etc over ...
Advantages: Hair feels AMAZING after use and lasts forever Disadvantages: Bit pricey
When I went to the hairdressers about a year ago, after 2 years of no-cuts due to lack of confidence after last hairdressing disaster, my hairdresser recommended the Kerastase (kair-ah-stars) Oleo-Relax range to me.
Before, my hair looked like I'd had a very bad home perm. Afterwards- wow! what a difference! First time I could get a comb through my hair! It made my hair feel light, soft, silky and I could easily brush it. I think the only downpoint is that the products are pretty expensive- the shampoo cost me about £13 for a 250ml bottle. But it is definately worth it, the serum cost me £11, and a year or so on, I've only used up half the bottle!
I use the serum and hair masque the most often, they are the only ones which I feel really help nourish and condition my hair. I use the serum after washing my hair, you only need a few ...
