I, on the other hand, have to deal with short eyelashes that aren’t even the same length.
So, as you can imagine I have bought my fair share of mascaras. Last year, I succumbed to the trend of mascaras that curl your eyes for you, in theory removing the need to use those painful looking eyelash curlers. I purchased a black L’Oreal Le Grand Curl mascara that claimed to have a special protein, which causes the eyelash to visibly curl. I found to my dismay that the mascara only seemed to curl the eyelash a little bit, leaving me to resort to using my eyelash curler. I probably ended up using Le Grand Curl about twice, if that.
Well, now L’Oreal have come out with the Le Grand Curl waterproof mascara. I admit I purchased it, but my excuse was that I had a wedding to attend as a bridesmaid and I needed to be streak free all day. The original mascara did not have the best staying power so a waterproof version sounded ideal. Le Grand curl mascaras come in five colours: black, blue, green, brown and mauve, and cost about £7.00 although it pays to shop around.
The wedding situation was perfect for testing the mascaras waterproof ability. I have to say that it managed to stay put throughout the very long day despite my tendency to burst out crying all the time. I decided to wear the mascara for a day at work without any mechanical assistance and for a day with the aid of an eyelash curler. I found that the curl given by the mascara on it’s own was minimal and that no one noticed the difference. I also found that if I applied more than one coat, then the mascara tended to leave lumps on the end of my eyelashes. The second day’s effort was more successful although that was probably due to the effectiveness of the eyelash curler. People certainly noticed the difference and I had gorgeous wispy, fluttery eyes
My conclusion is that the Le Grand Curl Waterproof is a slight improvement on the original only because it is waterproof. It still does not curl as well as one would expect and it is very pricey compared to normal mascaras. Unfortunately, if you want luscious curly lashes, you will have to invest in a pair of eyelash curlers. They’re not as dangerous as they look

At the tender age of 18, only a few years ago (ahem!) I decided that I no longer wanted to look like I’d got the bottoms of a couple of heavy density milk bottles attached to my face, so took the plunge and made an appointment to visit the local approved contact lens practitioner.
The thing that really spurred me on this decision was a rapidly approaching holiday, the first without the parents..wahay!! The last thing I wanted to do was laze ... ...not, flip up shades attached to my specs! Definitely not pulling gear!
So throwing caution to the wind, along with the aforementioned shades I strolled along for my appointment. I won’t go into everything that happened from that day forth, although I did run into several lamp posts and brick walls as well as pedestrians the fist time I went out with the trial pair of lenses in, but that is another story!

While this is a reasonably average kind of mascara, which performs its function, the advertising claims that it will do far more than this, and this is simply not the case. The claim that you can dispense with eyelash curlers as a result of using this mascara is not accurate, and as far as thickening lashes goes it is poor in comparison to L'Oreal's Voluminous mascara. Advantages: Keeps your lashes in good condition. Disadvantages: Does not curl your lashes that well.
I know a lot of people who have used this product and have found that its no good. Personally though I have found it a lot better to use than many other brands that I have used. It does not curl your lashes as good at the advert claims to but there is certainly some curling. It is not the cheapest mascara around but when you apply it you can tell that it is a lot better than many of the cheaper brands. It is thick and is quite rich but it does not ... ...Your lashes are also not dried out and are kept soft yet strong. It last throughout the day without crumbling under your eyes giving you that great 'I havent slept for days' look!!
I have used both the dark brown and black and have found that they are both as good as each other. This is a good mascara on its own terms but you will be dissapointed if you are expecting it to curl your lashes. ...

...true and I agree that L'Oreal was not really honest about that point.
However with a little help, I have found that it gives a very nice curl to the lashes that not only last for a WHOLE day but doesn't make you panda eyes either. Here you go for my special secret trick :
sit at table with your elbows on it and your hands upwards. Apply 1 or 2 coats then roll tissue around your indexes to protect them. Put your indexes gently just under the upper ... ...the world) after a couple of hours.
There used to be a grey shade that L'Oreal no longer make. That's a shame because the black one is a bit too dark for me. The choice of colour therefore is quite limited and once again a bit too pricey ! ...

L'Oreal Le Grand Curl mascara may be pricier than alot of the other mascaras available, but for those of us that either have very light lashes and/or short lashes, this is a must. I initially thought the promised "longer, curlier lashes" statement was a ploy to get us all running out to buy it, but I do find it actually works. I was sorely disappointed with Revlon's Everylash CurlingMascara. Coming from a reputable brand and backed by such a massive advertising campaign, I figured it was worth the high price, and shelled out the money in good faith. Boy, was I wrong.
Though it costs a lot, the mascara wand feels cheap. Its strange curved shape is irritating as it means you can only target certain areas (unless you want to poke your eye out) and therefore the coverage isn't so good. The bristles seemed short and flimsy when compared to other brands (such as L'Oreal) and didn't coat the lashes effectively at all.
The curling properties of this mascara were absolutely nil. I found its rival, L'OrealLeGrandCurl, to be much better, as it really opens my eyes up by lifting and defining my lashes. Revlon can make no such claims as my lashes remained poker ...
