...then Loreal's Nutrisummer can help you get a little closer to that gorgeous tan you had... :-)
Living in England doesn't really help with that all-year-round tan and since neither my Mum nor my Dad are Spanish I do need to worry about my complexion. I've tried a few things before - including Johnson & Johnson's "holiday skin" which ended up in a bin - but was never really happy with the result.
When I visited a friend she told me about that "Loreal SublimeGlow" lotion she brought back from the States and how amazing it was. So I tried to buy it here, but the only thing that came closest was Loreal's Nutrisummer.
I bought the 200mltube for £6.99 in Boots and chose the fair skin option to avoid looking as if I had fallen in some sort of paint. There is also an option for medium skin types which I will probably pick once I consider myself tanned enough...
The first thing you notice when opening the tube is its fairly strong smell, but contrary to other reviews I've read, I didnt think it was particularly disturbing (Loreal describes it as "delicately fragranced" - but that really is an understatement). The lotion itself is white and fairly liquid so watch out it doesnt all drop on the floor! :-)
You should probably apply it with a little more care than when using normal body lotions since it doesnt just magically cover all your body. However, even difficult areas such as my back did never get streaky at all. I once had a "tanline" running round my wrist because I had washed my hands a little too thoroughly after applying it. Since then I have just washed my fingers and palms rather than the whole hand to avoid these.
Loreal promises a sun-kissed tan that gradually builds up over a week when it reaches its maximum. This approximation however is based on you using it at least once (or even twice) a day during that week. Which I never do. I usually manage to remember it 3 times a week and I can still see a difference.
They also promise moisturised skin for 24 hours which I can probably just about confirm, which does not mean it couldn't be improved. On the other hand you probably have to accept some kind of trade-off compared to a "normal" body lotion just developed to keep your skin happy... :-) I do occasionally use a dry skin lotion to balance what I might be missing with Nutrisummer.
Overall I have to say I'm absolutely happy with this body lotion. It gives you a natural looking, gradually increasing tan that doesn't look (too) fake. It is easy to apply and streakes are rare if you make sure you use it thoroughly.
Unfortunately, it does take a little too long until your skin is dry so you should definitely run around naked for a little while before getting dressed :-) It's not really a good idea to use it when you're in a rush... Especially if you put on your bra too early, you will notice that the skin that was covered by your bra is much darker than the rest.
And finally, it does not really last very long when you apply it to the whole body every single time - which you should. I've used the current tube about 3 times and it's almost half empty. Especially at a price of almost 7 pounds this is not really good news.
I would still recommend it to everyone since it's the first lotion I've used that left me with a good and natural-looking tan... :-)
