L'Oreal NutriSummer offers a gradual tan to make you look like you've been on holiday all summer long.

WHAT IT PROMISES

Nourished and golden skin all year round. NutriSummer combines Hydralium (tm) for moisturized skin all day, plus Soft-Tan for a progressive, natural, sun-kissed look day after day. NutriSummer promises hydrated skin with a light natural tan.

USE

Apply all over body once daily.

SMELL

Smells pleasant, slightly flowery. Once applied, this lotion has surprisingly little of that pesky 'tanner' odour, making it pleasurable to apply. It's a great way of gradually tanning without announcing it to the world via your stinky lotion. Smells much more like 'normal' lotion than self-tanner.

FEEL

The package advertises a "velvety texture", but I found NutriSummer a little watery. It's okay as long as you don't pour too much on. As someone who generally prefers thick lotions, the runniness was a bit annoying, though. I think the key with this is that a little goes a long way, as putting too much on your skin makes it very difficult to rub in. It does dry very quickly, so you can dress immediately after applying. Noticeably moisturizes skin to leave behind a smooth texture, so you can definitely use NutriSummer to replace your normal body lotion AND self-tanner.

EFFECT

After 3-4 days, I did notice my legs looking a shade darker. It can only do so much, so if you're pale like me, you'll never turn olive with this stuff. However, it does provide a nice sun-kissed look without looking like you need to lay off the tanning beds. I think it looks more natural than some products I've used. Since it offers a gradual tan, this reduces chances of streakiness or orange tinting. It's harder to make a "mistake" while applying this stuff, since it only builds up over time & one-off missed spot will not be noticable so long as you do it right tomorrow.

The only downside I can see with the effects of this lotion are, like all self-tanners, it tends to fade quickly. If you don't use this stuff everyday, it's hard to maintain your level of tan. I tried using it every other day to cut down & that seems to work okay, but any less often decreases the intensity. I guess this is their way of making sure you buy more.

MAIN INGREDIENTS

Water, glycerin, propleyne glycol, cyclopentasiloxane, isohexadecane, paraffinum liquidim/mineral oil, cyclohexasiloxane, cetereth-12, dihydoxyacetone, butyrospermum parkii/shea butter, glycine soja/soybean oil...etc.

RECOMMENDATION

This product has great 2-in-1 value. The price isn't cheap, but since it can replace both your self-tanner AND daily body lotion, that makes it more reasonable. The pleasant smell means you don't have to worry about smelling like a tanning salon all day. Always make sure you wash your hands after applying any tanning product, as even this gentle tanner will create a weird colour to your palms.
