After returning from holiday and watching my natural tan fade within a matter of weeks I decided that instead of putting up with being pale for the next year I would fake it. I haven't had much luck in the past with fake tans as they always leave me looking like an oompa loompa, so I thought I'd try one of the gradual tanning moisturisers that seem to be everywhere.

I chose Nutrisummer simply because it was on offer at my local supermarket. Loreal has always been a brand that I trust and I would definitely purchase it again.

The packaging
************
The product is in an orange and cream tube and although it is quite large, its compact shape makes it easy to store in a bathroom cupboard or to stand on a shelf. The appearance of the tube isn't very original and probably wouldn't stand out on a supermarket shelf so it may take a while to find it.

The product comes in two varieties, either for fair or medium skin and claims to build a 'natural looking tan'.

Price
*****
At full price Nutrisummer costs just under £7 for 200ml, however it is often on offer and in Boots at minute it is half price at just £3.42. I've never paid £7 for it but probably would as the large tube lasts ages if you only use a bit each day and in my opinion it is definitely good value for money.

Application
**********
The moisturiser can be used anywhere apart from on the face and I usually apply it to one area such as my arms or legs to avoid looking too tanned. The tube states that it can be applied once or twice a day and I often apply it twice a day if I want quick results.

Although I don't have dark skin, I'm not really pale so while two applications a day works for me, it may be too orange for really pale skin.

The only thing that I don't like about this product is the smell, as although not unpleasant, it lingers on the skin for hours afterwards so you can still smell it when it's dry. Some of my friends don't like the fact that the liquid is colourless when first applied so you can't see where you have applied it but I find that as long as you rub it in evenly this isn't really a problem.

Since starting to use this product, I have learned that how you apply it really affects the results. When I first started, I used to put loads of the moisturiser on and just leave it to sink in and the results were often streaky. I've found that a much more effective way of applying the moisturiser is to use smaller amounts and rub it right into the skin until completely dry. It also helps to get an even colour if you exfoliate before, especially in areas such as ankles or elbows where the colour can sit unnaturally.

Sometimes applying everyday can create an unnatural colour so if I feel that it is too much I often leave it a few days before applying again. Generally, the colour looks quite natural, especially on top of a bit of a natural tan.

As the product is a moisturiser it also feels really nice and makes my skin feel really soft after applying. My skin is very sensitive and I haven't had any problems with the product but just in case, it is a good idea to do a small skin test 24 hours before using it.

As stressed on the back of the product, it is also important to note that Nutrisummer doesn't contain any UV filters or SPF so shouldn't be used as sun protection.

Overall this is a really good product and as long as it is applied properly can give great results for an even tan throughout the year.
