About me:

Introduction:

Myself and the boyfriend were on one of our regular trips to Tescos this evening when I found myself wandering down the hair dye isle. Noticing that recital preference was on offer (2 for £10) I suddenly decided "I want to dye my hair!". The boyfriend looked at me disapprovingly, then said, "What Colour?"
"...I don't know" I replied, "Maybe dark brown?"
"How about red?" He suggested...
Now I'm not a big risk taker but "You'll look very sexy as a redhead" he said with a cheeky wink... and that swerved it for me.
Plus it was 2 for £10, if I didn't like the red I could go back to safe and normal brown. Marvellous.

The Price:
As I've already mentioned these were on offer, 2 for £10, which in my opinion is quite pricey but L'oreal are a good reliable brand and at a fiver each, it's not too bad. These usually retail for around £6-7 I believe.

Colour:
I did it, I took a risk (how rebellious of me) and I went for 3.66 Dark Red Ultra Violet

Packaging:
Of course, there's a gorgeous, flawless redhead staring at me and I know damn well I'm never going to look that good... but I still had a slight feeling of excitement and the thought "Maybe I will look half decent" crossed my mind. The gold leaf and the french finally did it for me, "How luxurious" I thought... and I damn well deserved some pampering!

Contents:
A. Developer Creme
B. Colourant Gel
C. Color Maximiser
D. Increased size High Shine Conditioning Shampoo
E. Professional Quality Gloves

Preparation:
After applying my vaseline around my hairline, neck and ears (stops the colour staining) I followed the instructions and mixed the ingredients. My god, how bright was it!! Eeek. Now I was getting scared.

Application:
"Put on the gloves.
Wet the hair without washing it.
Towel dry.
Apply the mixture to the roots, by parting the hair into sections using the applicator nozzle.
Then spread it all over the hair."
Doesn't sound too difficult I thought, squirting the first section with my blood red potion.... Oh my God, the bathroom looked like a murder scene. Blood red liquid hit the floor and the walls... How could I miss my massive head?
..After getting into the swing of things though, the 'blood' on the floor became less and less and my hair became nicely coated in the hairdye. After feeling satisfied that I hadn't missed any hair, ("Babe, have I missed any?" ..."No"..."Are you sure?"..."yes!"...."Sure sure?"..."Oh for god's sake Kate yes!! you've covered it all!!".....hehe :) ) I went back to the instructions.
"Let it develop for 30 minutes"
Cool, I thought...
So as time ticked away I tried to keep myself busy by having a tidy up when all of a sudden I caught a glance of myself in the mirror. ARGHHHHHHH
The dye was all over my arms and chest... and looked like I had been knifed multiple times in the past and these were the scars I now bore. Panicking I rushed to my trusty baby wipes and scrubs at the 'scars', thankfully the dye came off quite easily, phew... least I wasn't going to look like something out of Psycho now.

Rinsing:
Oh dear, this didn't go so well for me. I may just be a complete idiot (more likely than not) but I forgot to turn the water on before so I was rinsing the dye out in ice cold water feeling like my head was going to fall off. To make matters worse, the colour coming out looked like blood. Again I was confronted with something quite closely resembling the Psycho shower scene. Also there was lots of it, I thought I might die of hypothermia (right word?) as the dye took so long to rinse.
"Rinse thoroughly with warm water until the water runs clear" reads the instructions... Ah... warm water, silly me.
And was the water EVER going to run clear?????

Shampooing:
Ah this bit I did enjoy. The shampoo smelt yummy and lathered up nicely, with the new bigger size I can enjoy it for 3 more applications too, bonus!
But sadly after the enjoyable shampoo massage came the inevitable cold rinse. Oh dear.

End Result:
I quickly rushed to my bedroom, towel drying my hair as I went and turned on the hair dryer. I was excited, yet nervous, to see my new style. Would I be a foxy Red Head? Sadly not, Red head yes, foxy... well it's not a miracle product is it!!
After drying and straightening though I was presently surprised. The colour wasn't outrageous and shone in the light. The coverage was even and not in the slightest bit patchy. A major achievement for a fool like me.

The boyfriend's opinion:
Well sadly he's fallen asleep and an earthquake couldn't wake him. I did get a half asleep grunt but meh, will have to wait until tomorrow to see if the end result IS sexy.

Overall:
I'm very impressed. Even coverage. High shine, glossy hair. Amazing colour.
Not bad for a fiver and half hours work is it? Beats the sixty quid I usually spend to have it done professionally anyway!

Recommendations:
-Be brave! Try a new colour, this is a fantastic brand.
-Don't be a dope like me, rinse with warm water
-Always apply in the bathroom and wear old clothes, very messy!

Thanks for reading :)
