I have always been looking for a foundation that gives you a flawless finish or as some might say the air brushed look!! They claim that the foundation matches perfectly to the colour and texture of your skin for a flawless look.. Fantastic just what I and every other women has been looking for but does it do what is says on the tin?? And for under £10 (£9.78 in fact) it seems even better!

The packaging

The packaging is very simple and straight forward, which is great for when you are putting your makeup on as the last thing you need is fiddly or complex applicators that you need a degree to use or even get into! it’s a simple toughened glass bottle with a push down nozzle and lid, now I say that the glass bottle is tough as I have dropped mine a few times and it has not broken however I expect that if you were to throw it against a brick wall then it would.

Best way to choose your shade

Most people put the foundation on the back of their hand, blend it in and then look at the coverage and shade match. Now this is wrong the way to pick your shade as the back of your hand is a different colour to your face, I learnt that the correct way to choose your shade is to put the foundation in the palm of your hand to warm it up and then apply it to your jaw line.
The other mistake I use to make was looking for a shade match under a shop light, this is also wrong as shop lights can make the foundation appear light/darker than it really is. Take a little mirror with you apply the foundation to your jaw line in the shop then go out side and look, but remember to leave the tester bottle in the shop!!

Shades

They say there are 12 true skin shades in this range but I have only seen 10 shades, some of them are your basic shades that you can get with any foundation however some of them I did look at and asked myself why they have made that shade! Like the vanilla ivory which is a red shade, this could be used as a blush I guess or you could use it if you have got a sun burnt face but for all year round!! I cant see the point to be honest.

These are the shades that I have seen

Rose ivory - peachy colour
Nude ivory - peachy pink
Bronze amber - dark baby pink
Apricot ivory - pink
Golden beige - light brown
Vanilla - golden brown
Apricot sand - tanned brown
Rose beige - brown
Vanilla ivory - blush red
Cocoa - dark brown

Applying

I have always and will continue to apply moisturizer before I apply my foundation as I do think this helps you get a even coverage, even more so if you have dry skin like me. I do let the moisturizer sink in before I apply the foundation other wise I get tide marks, I have tried this foundation without moisturizer and I have to say I didn’t like the result. To me the coverage looked flaky and clung on with dear life to my dry areas!!
The other thing I still do is use is concealer as I do find that if you do have a blemish the foundation grabs and makes it stick out even more.

When applying I always have to remind myself that a little goes a long way! As it is a liquid you don’t need to use a lot and that I can always apply more if I need to, when putting it on I use my fingers instead of a brush or sponge because even thou it is a liquid it feels like it has a bit of powder mixed in with it and when applying with a brush I feel like I am not getting the full effect of the product! Its like the brush removes the power feel if that makes sense!! The other thing I noticed when applying with a brush or sponge is that I use more.

I start from my middle and work my way out and once I have applied the foundation I then use the foundation brush round my jaw line just in case I haven’t blended the foundation correctly. To start with the liquid feels a bit heavy but after you have blended in and it dry’s it becomes light, you don’t get that caked on feeling. The coverage is fantastic one of the best I have seen in ages

How long does it lasts

I find that this foundation last most of the day and I only need to touch up if I am going out in the evening, I have found thou that when it rains it does wear off a little sooner than I like. The foundation is easy to wash off with a gentle soap or baby wipe no scrubbing required which is great as it only irritates the skin.

All in all I love this foundation as it does every thing I require, I find it gives me a next to flawless finish and fantastic coverage that I want. I use this along side the other true match products like the mineral powder, which you can buy for about £14. I find that all the L oreal range works really wonderfully together, I have also used other cheaper powders with this foundation and they work just as well.

For me, I would need to ask the 'Does it contain lanolin?' question before trying the tester and then attempting a match . . . ♥ jesi ♥
