I knew what I was getting into, because I didn't have many good experiences with cheaper self-tanners. They usually left me streaky or a freaky looking orange shade that caused ... ...so I thought I'd give L'oreal sublime bronze the benefit of the doubt. I scanned over the various shades of light, medium, dark, i and chose the medium shade. It costs a very reasonable $15 to $20 US, which put a smile on my face, and some extra cash in my wallet to buy a bronzing gel in case I ended up looking like a shade of pumpkin. I drove home in a jiffy, and hopped in the shower for my pre self tan preparation.

But desperate times called for desperate measures, so I thought I'd give L'oreal sublime bronze the benefit of the doubt. I scanned over the various shades of light, medium, dark, i and chose the medium shade. It costs a very reasonable $15 to $20 US, which put a smile on my face, and some extra cash in my wallet to buy a bronzing gel in case I ended up looking like a shade of pumpkin. I drove home in a jiffy, and hopped in the shower for my pre self tan preparation.
Before self-tanning, you should always, always, always exfoliate your skin. This helps to remove dead skin cells and residue, so that the tanner can go on more easily, with less streaks, and longer lasting power. I use St. Ives Apricot Scrub in the largest tub size and keep it on my bathtub ledge for times like these. I also like to wait until the steam and hot water has opened up my pores, so that the scrub can work more effectively. Once I step out of the shower, I immediately use a non-greasy moisturizing lotion all over. The lotion seals in moisture and works as a base for the tanner to go on evenly and less harshly around areas like knees, elbows and ankles. Just be sure not to use an oil-based moisturizer, which can affect the self-tanners effectiveness. One the moisturizer is completely absorbed into the skin, and your body is completely dry, you can begin to apply the self tanner.
When using a self-tanning spray you might want to apply it in a dry shower with the shower curtain closed. The spray tends to get everywhere, and I made this mistake when I first used this product by doing it in my room. I ended up with a greasy floor and the bottoms of my feet were stained orange. The spray is clear, and I applied it in long smooth sprays in upward and downward motion. It was relatively easy to apply, and covered larger areas like the legs quickly and easily. I sprayed a lot of the product on my feet, which I realized later was a bad idea. When I was finished I remained in my room, allowing time for the product to dry without putting clothes on. Clothing can disrupt the process and can get stained as well. The spray dried to a silky finish rather quickly, and much quicker than most lotion based self-tanners. I then went to bed dreaming of my bronzed glow in the morning.
When I woke up the next morning I was definitely darker. The shade was slightly on the orange side, but not as bad as many other self-tanner's that I have encountered. I also noticed that the extra coats I had applied on my feet, was a bad idea and left me with much darker feet than legs. The product did not streak, however it did develop darker around my ankles and knees. You should spray over these areas very lightly, and go darker over the rest of the body. My skin also felt soft and silky from the moisturizing properties in the formula, which I liked. Much to my delight, no one noticed my tangerine-ish shade at night, because it did tend to look much more bronze in color when not in bright light or outdoor light. My last minute self-tanning experience was a success thanks to L'oreal Sublime Bronze, and I would definitely use this product again in an emergency like this.
Overall great for emergency situations and recommended.

The name being a selling point of course, this product also appealed to me because (a) it was in the form of a spray - this could be handy for 'hard to reach' area's, and also I was typically used to cream versions. (b) The self-tan looked quite advanced compared to other self-tanning products sharing the shelf. The product offered to not only tan ... ...but to also keep my skin smooth and hydrated. The tan comes in a 150ml transparent spray bottle. This being an advantage as it is always a bonus to know how much of the produce you have left before you just one day, run out. The bottle can become slightly greasy whilst in use i.e switching bottle from hand to hand etc. The product promises to be a non-greasy texture. This being true when it comes to your skin, but not so with the packaging in hand.

...came across their recommendation of L'Oreal Sublime Bronze Tanning Spray. I already had a faint tan from the days I did get some sun but it wasn't really strong enough and I wanted to look healthy and like I'd just come back from a few weeks on a beach holiday.
I was a bit put off by the price of £11.99 though since I only wanted to test the product and might not like it. My solution to this problem was eBay I wasn't sure if anyone would list the ... ...some auctions up for it. I ended up getting a full and unused bottle for £4 which was a bargain so for those in the same position I'd suggest looking on eBay there are a lot of unused bottles up and even with postage they are half the price. Also, if you like the product and want to regularly buy it, it makes it a hell of a lot cheaper.
So, I am new to fake tanning as I have always criticised people who have a streaky look as it makes me cringe. ...

Advantages: Airbrush effect makes application reasonably easy Disadvantages: The mist is not coloured so you cannot see where you have spayed it.
I needed a tan quickly as I had a wedding to go to this weekend and had to bear my legs for the first time this year, so I decided to try this product.
I bought the product from my local Boots store and read the instructions on the tin. The blurb reads that there is no need to rub in the spay, you get a 100% natural looking tan, it leaves you with no streaks, no patches or orange marks or palms.
Great I thought, foolproof then, I am going to look ... ...Reading the instructions further, it tells you that you do not have to moisturise your skin beforehand but you must exfoliate your skin before you apply the spray. You also must put down a towel on the floor and stand on it, I presume to catch any mist that falls to the floor, it suggests that you wash the towel after you have finished putting on the spray.

Advantages: Even, natural tan without streaks. Disadvantages: Fades very quickly, but difficult to remove last traces.
I have used every self-tanning lotion/spray/oil/gel/foam going, from St.Tropez to Rimmel, and always come back to Loreal Sublime Spray. I am a tan-a-holic, and cannot stand to be seen with white bits, as I think that a tan is the ultimate accessory a girl can have. Let's face it, women do look better brown. (Unless of course your'e the porcelain china doll type!)
The only thing, is that I'm at work all day long, 5 days a week, and no longer want ... ...them at 29.) so I have to resort to the tan in a bottle!
Believe me, in my experimental trials to find the perfect tan, I've turned orange, dyed my arm hairs brown, and looked like I needed a thorough wash, all for vanity's sake!(Was it really worth it I ask myself?)
Loreal Sublime Spray, is most definitely the best self tanning product I have come across. It is very easy to apply, dries quickly(Although it does leave a slightly greasy residue) ...

Now that the sunshine has finally appeared it's time to bare the legs.
I bought L'Oreal's selftanning dry mist spray from the local supermarket for £5.99 when we had a spell of warm weather, but I noticed that it has now gone upto £7.36! so it might be worth shopping around.
For this you get 150ml in a gold coloured cylindrical can. It appealed to me because it is a selftanning dry mist, so there is no need to rub in.
I always have problems getting an even coverage so I decided to follow the instructions very carefully. Apparently the dry mist sprays micro-particles which are much smaller than the traditional selftannedsprays so the formula should not feel wet on the skin. The instructions are wriiten in very small writing so if you struggle to see them you might need a magnifying glass!!
