I first purchased this tanning gel around 2 years ago and have used it ever since. I have always bought it from Boots and the price has ranged from £7.99 to £8.99 (depending if there was an offer on at the time). I think the tanning gel is worth this cost, I apply it 1-2 times a week and a bottle typically lasts me around 3-5months.
The packaging is what one would expect from a fake tan product, a gold coloured bottle. The gel comes out quite fast, however it can be controlled. The seal is very secure, I have taken the bottle abroad in a suitcase and in a smaller travel bag in the car and it has never leaked.
The gel has quite a pleasant fragrance from the bottle, a bit like sun lotion smell, however once it is applied and has dried, a hint of the familiar "biscuity" smell becomes apparent, but not quite as strong as other tanning products I have previously used. As a person who tends to be in a rush all the time I usually end up applying the gel and then getting dressed moments later and going out again. I find 5 minutes is sufficient time to allow the gel to sink in and get dressed again, and despite this it has never left any marks on my clothing. Alternatively I will apply it before bed and it has never left any marks on my bed sheets. I tend to apply normal body lotion to begin with before applying the gel as I find it easier to apply and it makes a more natural colour. The gel is a light brown/gold colour therefore you can see it as it goes on therefore any streaks or sections you have missed are visible. This also means it leaves the skin with an instant colour. The gel also contains little gold sparkly bits which leave a nice shimmer over the skin.
I also use the gel on my face about twice a week. I use a small amount over my normal moisturizer, avoiding my hair line and eyebrows. I have recently discovered that L'Oreal have brought out an alternative Sublime Bronze gel for specifically designed for use on the face, I will definitely be giving this a try.
The gel feels refreshing and light on the skin, which makes a nice change from more heavy, sticky creams I have used in the past. It sinks into the skin quickly and dries almost instantly
Like with any fake tan you must wash your hands after using it! I find a quick wash over and scrubbing my nails briefly with a nail brush gets the tan off completely and leaves my hands looking normal the next day. I find that because the gel does sink in quite quickly it's a good idea to wash hands immediately after use, not giving it a chance to tan your palms!
I have always been very pleased with the results, it leaves a streak-free pleasant golden glow. It has never left me looking orange or patchy. The results are visible within around 3 hours of applying the gel or the next day if applied before bed. The tan lasts around 7 days, depending on how many times it has been applied. However to keep the colour even and make it last longer it is advisable to use body scrub at some point to remove any dry skin.
