I was sick of my dyed black hair ( naturally very dark brown) and decided to remove it to dye it a lighter colour. After 2 rather failed attempt to dye my hair blue black , after it had already been coloured with permanent black, i decided i wasent wiling to keep letting the black dye build up before it looked blue. Even though everyone loved it and thought it looked so good , even my hairdreser had a go at me not to do it, and my sister hid the prelightener after i bought it! Talk about telling me what to do :L
So i did it anyway, because i was just so bored of the black. I bought the prelightener ( cost around £6, not too bad for a home colour stripper) and studied the instructions. If i wanted to get my hair sufficently enough to dye it over, i would have to use two sackets of activator powder that came in
the box ( the box contained the developer, two sackets of activator powder ( you can choose your strenth- one sacket for lightening fair hair and two sackets for dark and dyed hair, the prelightener creme tube, application tip, gloves and conditioner) which i did. So basically, my mum wouldnt let me ruin her bathroom , so i waited until i went on holiday to wales. I started using anti dandruff shampoo and even fairy liquid to remove the colour to a certain extent ( black hair dye never really fades much though) and when the holiday came around 2 weeks later , i waited until the end of the night and went back to my hotel room with two friends to help me, and the lightener in the other hand. They were both telling me ' this is your final chance' and 'i hope your hair dosent go like cotten wool and fall out!' but i stuck to my guns. So we mixed the sackets and squeezed the prelightner creme into the developer, and screwed the application tip on and shaked until mixed. when we opened it , an eyewateringly strong smell of ammonia hit us. they told me one last chance, and if i didnt want to it would be good because i wouldnt have to put up with the smell, but i told them i wanted to and they just backed off ( bitches :L). So i put the gloves on and started spreading the mixture into the mid and lenths of my hair. as soon as i did that ( keeping it an inch from roots) i left it for half an hour. My girlfriends were just sitting on the bed, worryingly watching my hair turn from jet black to a sort of very dark auburn colour. after 30 mins, i applied the rest of the mixture and massaged into my hair, making sure every last strand was saturated. The thing i liked was the mixture was colourless, so i could see my hair changing colour! As soon as i finished the roots however , i could see the change immdately. My head was stinging a little and i could feel the heat coming off my scalp. i checked every ten minutes and could see the roots going from almost black to a yellowy blonde colour, and the rest going a bright pumpkin orange with darker auburn ends. After another 30 mins , my gfs were literally begging me to wash it off( so dramatic :L) and so i rinsed it off with luke warm water ( as per instructions). i looked in the mirror and my hair was ''5 different colours!'' as quoted by mary. it was yellowish blonde on roots, then a bright orange, pumpkin orange then dark auburn on ends. Overall all different shades of ginger. i was just staring at my new ginger hair in amazement. my gfs were saying ' how come its ginger, not blonde!', they obviously dont have a clue about hair dye. My hair was a bit dry; But then i finally remembered the condtioner and wet my hair again and put it on and it totalyy brought my hair back to life! After that, it looked so lovely and shiny and auburn , and stayed like that. I kind of looked like hayley williams from paramore xD After a few weeks though, my very dark regrowth was poking through the yellowy blonde roots, and i decided to dye it dark red ( with live color XXL, my fave dye xD. turned out amazeee. and the great thing was that everyone loved it! ( the lightned and dyed red)
I now have literally white blonde hair now, after 3 more bleachings ( i dyed it red for a few months then used the same prelightener and went to a salon) , and everyone liked the result. i may dye my hair blue black again in new year, as i'm getting bored of the blonde, cos i keep getting dark roots, and its pretty damaged now thanks to the peroxde. But i hope the same story dosent happen again xP
