Advantages: Makes brushing hair easier Disadvantages: None, if you have tangle-prone hair
If I had 10p for every time someone has said to me ‘Oh your daughter has beautiful hair’ I’d have … well, probably about enough to buy a bottle of shampoo. We have a constant struggle with her hair – from me she has inherited fine brown hair and from her dad (who is part Italian) she has inherited a strong tendency for it to curl into ringlets.

That would be great, except that her hair is soft so it goes from tight curls one day to enormous random waves the next. Unfortunately, her grandmother (the Italian one) decided to take her to one side and whisper in her ear that her hair would be lovely if she let it grow. Two long years later it is still in the growing down stage, and laughs off all my attempts to tame it with clips and hairbands.
But every morning I try again, starting with an attempt to comb out the night time tangles. She is not good with pain (!) so the slightest tug is met with cries of agony and major drama.
So, when I saw a bottle of the new L’Oreal Kids tangle tamer spray which promised ‘Quick Detangling! No Tears! No Knots!’ I decided to give it a go. There is just one type, which is ‘burst of sweet pear’ fragrance and suitable for all hair types. A 200ml bottle cost £1.47 from Tescos.
The bottle itself is quite funky – bright lime green, with a yellow manual spray button on the top, and vaguely shaped like a whale standing on its tail, with a big eye staring at you. The curvy shape of the bottle does make it a bit easier to hold. The spray is easy for me to use but my five year old daughter doesn’t have the strength to use it properly herself yet.
It does have a strong pear fragrance, which my daughter announced was ‘Yum’ although when she stuck it under her dad’s nose for him to smell, his reaction was ‘Yeuk! It is actually quite nice and fresh when you spray it onto the hair, and doesn’t seem to linger for too long.
The spray can be used on wet or dry hair, and does not need to be rinsed out. When it is sprayed on it wets the hair, and helps the brush to slide through much more easily. The hair dries again naturally quite quickly. It doesn’t seem to weigh down the hair, and I’ve sometimes used it on two mornings without washing her hair in-between with no problems.
As I said before, my own hair is fine - if over conditioned it goes limp and greasy, but without conditioner it can get dry and 'staticky'. A couple of times I’ve grabbed the bottle just before leaving the house and used it as a quick fix light conditioner on my hair. It’s helped make my hair a bit more manageable without leaving it heavy and greasy.
One more use – it is very good when playing hairdressers, and can be sprayed happily onto Mummy’s hair before attacking her with a hairbrush and leaving her with a hairstyle Tina Turner would have been proud of. Daddy fled the scene, carrying the baby who has very little hair just at the moment.
The L’Oreal Kids Tangle Tamer spray is not a household essential, by any means, but it does make life a bit easier and I think I will buy it again. It gets the thumbs up from my daughter who announced yesterday ‘I want you to use this every time you brush my hair from now on, Mummy’.
The bottle also suggests looking at their website at www.lorealkids.co.uk. I couldn’t find this site, but I did find www.lorealkids.com. This has some basic information about the products in the L’Oreal Kids range (‘Because we’re worth it too!’), a few hair care tips and a couple of games to try out. Not terribly exciting, so only visit if you are completely obsessed with children’s hair care products or very, very bored!
I was surprised to see that this has been categorised as a 'baby care' product. Personally, I would use this for children of toddler age upwards, although there is no mention of a minimum age on the bottle.
Advantages: Great de tangler for the whole family, smells great Disadvantages: None
With my daughter’s hair getting longer and longer and the fights over brushing her hair getting my physical every day I decided I needed a weapon to help me. My daughter is only 17 months old but is one of the most determined children you could ever meet. She has a lot of will power and determination, and though this will be great for her when she is older for me now it means that everything is an argument.
Everyone always comments on my daughter ... ...a week with Johnson’s baby bath which leaves her hair lovely and soft though we have a huge problem with tangles. Her hair is thick yet very fine and I did not want to start using a wash out conditioner on her hair as I feel that is too much fuss for a 17 month old child. Also it used to be a battle to wash her hair but we have finally overcome that so I do not want to prolong her hair washing experience.
So, the answer for me was to try L’Oreal ...

Advantages: It makes hair brushing time a breeze Disadvantages: Can make hair look greasy if sprayed on roots, or too liberally.
...Tamer is a product of L'Oreal Paris, well known for product ranges such as Elnett, Studio Line, Feria, Perfect Blonde, to name a few.
What does it look like?
==================
It comes in a tall lime green, plastic bottle, with a yellow pump-action type top, over which is a clear plastic lid. I think it is supposed to look like some kind of animal/bird/fish (I'm not sure what), due to the shape (see pic below), and the fact that it has a kind ... ...It has "L'Oreal", "Kids" and "Tangle Tamer" written across the middle of the bottle, in black, yellow, and pink, respectively.
Is it fragranced?
=============
Yes, it has the smell of 'sweet pear', according to the bottle, and when it is sprayed, it does indeed have a very fruity, very pleasant pear-like aroma, which does last quite a while on the hair.
How do I use it?
============
Well, you can use it on wet or dry hair:
Wet hair - Towel-dry. ...

Advantages: Nice smell reasonable price Disadvantages: not lasting results for the price.
...a semi-useful product called; "new L'oreal kids tangle tamer for wet or dry hair." phew...and if you can remember THAT title, then I'm the princess of sheba!
I don't know about your kids but whenever it's time to brush the unruly locks,there is so much tantrum-so many tears and moans that anyone within a ten mile radius must think I am murdering the little darlings.
Without exception,brushing of hair is NOT at the top of their list of things to ... ...or dry hair,of course!!
Now L'oreal is not a brand I'd normally buy,due to the over exorbitant price..(there must be a bit of scots in me..heh..sorry jeannie,and any one else scottish!)
Normally,Asda's own family shampoo is more than adequate for me,but I made the exception,and thought I'd give it a try.This is what I found..
THE PACKAGING:
A ridiculously small,lime-(no,not slime!)green plastic bottle. fairly funky in colour and shape,and definately ...

Advantages: works quickly, no more tears and tantrums Disadvantages: none
...bought a bottle of L'Oreal Kids Tangle Tamer. My daughter is a nightmare when it comes to brushing her hair. She has long very curly blond hair - she looks like an angel, but believe you me thats where it ends when it comes to brushing her hair. She insists on holding daddy's hand whilst the brushing takes place, and still crys and screams, as though I was murdering her.
We no longer have quite such a bad time - although she still wants to hold ... ...horror of hair brushing!
L'Oreal Tangle Tamer is for wet and dry hair, so even more useful after hair washing. L'Oreal states it is quick at detangling, no tears and no knots. We still have a few knots, but only a few! There are no tears any more, and it does detangle quickly.
Not only does is de-tangle it also conditions and leaves the hair shiney.
It is tested under opthalmologist control.
It is marketed as "Burst of Sweet Pear" fragrance, ...

l'oreal kids tangletamer is ideal for children with all hair type i use this sweet smelling tangletamer on my two girls,the one who has thin wavy hair i tend to use this on just so that the brush goes through it easier as her hair tends to get knoty easy then i just style and off she goes,my other daughter has thick,straight hair i tend to use it more on her just to stop it looking flyaway,i use this on my children on a daily basis and i have no problemswith it,
i buy l'oreal as it is a brand i tend to trust,this spray costs around £1.99 from any good chemists but i got mine from savers so you might pay a little bit more in some places.

Only bad thing is, it might be a bit too yummy smelling, as some kiddies may try to swallow it. I did just this when I was a kid! I drunk a load of strawberry shampoo, I was okay, my mum told me I had a sore tummy, and was burping bubbles for ages lol!
