I bought L’Oreal Telescopic Mascara at Superdrug for £8.99. I bought the black one but it is also available in Brown or Waterproof Black.
The tube is gold (the colour not actual gold lol), about 15cm tall and shaped like a mini-telescope (hence the name).
When I opened the mascara, the first thing I noticed was the brush. It was unlike anything I had seen before! It’s very skinny; just 4 rows of combs (you’ll see that they form an “x” if you look at the brush from the bottom of the wand). It’s also very flexible. The wand is about 12cm long including the handle.
I normally apply mascara looking straight into the mirror with my eyes half-shut and comb through my lashes while wriggling the brush at the same time. However, with this mascara, I found that the best way to apply it for maximum coverage was to slowly roll the brush away from you as you comb through the lashes, so that each of the combs go through the lashes one at a time. It was easy to apply and went on smoothly.
The mascara dried pretty quickly. I found that I only needed 1 coat of this mascara for a dramatic look (I think that was because of the way I applied it by rolling the brush). After 1 coat I found I had extremely long lashes! The volume was good too, and because of the style of the combs on the wand my lashes were nicely separated so I didn’t need a lash comb afterwards. The skinny flexible brush meant I could easily get to the inner corners of my eyes. I found that the colour was intense too.
The product stayed on all day without flaking or smudging, and even though it’s not a waterproof mascara, it acts just like one! However, it didn’t come off with my regular facial cleanser so I had to remove it with eye-makeup remover.
I would recommend this mascara to anyone whether you’re going for a natural or a dramatic look. It’s very versatile as you can just drag it through your lashes for a natural look, or you can easily build up very dramatic lashes in just 1 coat by rolling the brush away from you so all 4 combs come in contact with your eyelashes. I would definitely buy this mascara again as it does what it says in the advert (yes - it does really make your lashes like 60% longer - well it did for me anyway :]) and at only £8.99 it’s fantastic value for money.
