Background
L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara is a Mascara designed to lengthen your lashes by up to 60% using such a think brush for precision and magnify to give you bold lashes, the brush is also designed to separate each lash. No doubt you've probably seen the adverts with Penelope Cruz wearing the mascara - it looks fantastic on her. Ok…so I knew that there was a 99% chance my lashes wouldn't end up looking like hers, firstly she has lash inserts and secondly a professional does her Make-Up.
Packaging The Mascara itself is in a gold tube that looks kind of like a Telescope, probably done because it's called "Telescopic". It has black writing on it telling you the name of the
Mascara (Telescopic), the brand it's made by (L'Oreal) and what the Mascara is supposed to do. It then comes in a plastic outer casing, so it can't be nicked quite as easily because it has a magnetic barcode on it. The plastic outer casing is very difficult to get off; you definitely need a pair of scissors or some strong teeth. Once you've got through this you can start using your new Mascara. To remove the brush from the container is quite easy, I was a bit worried about bristles breaking because they look so fragile. Putting the brush back into the container you want to be careful, I did it without looking properly and bent the brush because it's so thin, now it has a little kink in it.
Variety There are 4 different types of this mascara, these are: Black, Clean Definition, Waterproof Black & Brown.
Stockists As far as I know you can get it from Boots & Superdrug, you can probably get it in Chemists as well, anywhere really that sells L'Oreal products.
Price & Value In Boots where I got this Mascara from it cost me £8.99, I don't think that's particularly expensive because Mascara's tend to last quite a while and you would get 32 advantage points back if you have a Boots advantage card. I have to say though I wouldn't pay that again and you'll understand why once you've read about my experience.
Personal Experience I bought this Mascara because ever since I was about 14 years old I have been using Rimmel and people say to me that there are much better Mascara's on the market you just have to spend a little bit more. So I thought I'd update my make-up bag and I started with this Mascara. L'Oreal are very well known and always being advertised on the TV so I thought that would be a good place to start, so after looking through their Mascara's in Boots for about half an hour I came across L'Oreal Telescopic Mascara, it said on the label that it would magnify my lashes and lengthen them by up to 60%, I thought that sounded fantastic and £8.99 didn't sound too bad either. I used the mascara the next day before going to work. Done my usual routine, washed my face, used my eye make-up remover to make sure my lashes were fresh, used moisturiser then waited for a while for it all to soak in. After about 10 minutes, I applied my foundation, curled my lashes with my lash curler then started to apply the Mascara. I applied the first coat to my lashes in a zigzag fashion like I've always been told but I wasn't impressed. My lashes seem to all stick together and look really clumpy. They weren't separated or defined. Anyway tried applying a second coat to sort them out and they just got worse and started to get really heavy too so it looked like I had quite small eyes. So in my opinion it's not that easy to apply. The only thing I will say is it did make my lashes longer, clumpy but longer. Now I use my old mascara for definition etc then extend my lashes with this one. It's not ideal but I'm quite annoyed I wasted my money on it. It didn't irritate my eyes, even though loads of it ended up in my eyes and was quite easy to get off as well using my eye make-up remover.
I would recommend this mascara if you really do have the time to sit down and master how to use it. Other people have used it and it's been great for them so it might work for you, it just didn't for me.
