I usually use cheap brands of Mascara as I felt it didnt make a difference, but when I was given L'Oreals Telescopic Mascara for Christmas it changed my mind. It can be bought for around £10 in all good drugstores.

The Mascara comes in packaging that consists of a cardboard backing and plastic covering the cardboard backing is silver and has written on it the colour (905 Black in my case), statements about the mascara "lengthening and lash by lash seperating", and also has a picture of what they say is a 'new precision brush'. The packaging looks quite sophisticated and makes you feel you have a quality product. The mascara can be removed by opening a small serrated area which can be found on the back of the cardboard. The mascara is actually quite hard to remove, and takes a little force to get out.

The tube containing the mascara is a silvery-slightly sand colour. It is shaped like a telescope, and has a larger bottom, meaning it can be stood upright on a makeup table, and wont just roll off when you put it down. You unscrew the top part of the tube to reveal the mascara wand and brush, which is quite a dainty looking thing- its very thin and made of a rubber material with loads of tiny rubber 'prongs' all over it. One downside I can see to the wand and brush being so thin is that it may be a little flimsy and could snap - I will update the review if it does.

The mascara itself is a very true black - i have had some that seemed a little watery, and when put on a piece of white paper came out grey or slightly blue. To test, i put a small spot of the mascara on a piece of paper and it was black. On use, it coats the eyelashes very smoothly and does it evenly and well, it also does seperate them out (I have never been a fan of the spider leg looking clumped together lashes). After one coat, a very natural look was achieved, and I feel this would be good to wear from day to day as it does just look like you have long eyelashes. For a more dramatic look, I applied further layers (3 'brushes' in total) and achieved very long, seperated lashes that really seemed to 'open' my eyes.

I have worn the mascara all day with no need to re-apply, however with a few coats on your lashes, it does seem to flake off a little if you happen to rub your eye (this was after about 8 hours of wear). The only real downside I feel is that it doesnt seem to be waterproof. It seems to be able to withstand the odd spot of rain, but if your crying or its pouring down, it will smear down your face. This for my though is also an upside, as it is very easily removed, without the use of a makeup remover.

I wear glasses and contact lenses (not at the same time, but you know what i mean!) and my eyes have been known to get quite sensitive to some makeups. So far I have had no problems with this mascara what so ever. I do feel that if I was to rub my eye and a little flaked off into my eye this could irritate it quite a lot though (once again, I will update if this happens).

All in all, I am forever greatful to the person who gave me this as a gift, because it really has opened my eyes to using better brands of makeup. I will probably buy it againg when this one runs out.
