I'm slightly addicted to beauty products, which is probably the main reason that I'm here; I figure that I could use some of my exciting/disappointing experiences with new products to write some helpful reviews for people!

I'm pretty lazy when it comes to foundation, I rarely wear a proper liquid foundation, as all that blending and getting the stuff on my hands just bores me. During the day I normally wear a powder on my face, to control shine and even out my complexion. Until recently I'd been using the L'oréal True Match 'super-blendable' pressed powder, which is pretty good, but I sometimes felt it didn't offer me as much cover as I wanted, so when I saw the advert for True Match minerals; I got quite excited.
However, my excitement was short-lived, as I couldn't get hold of the product
in the shade that I wanted (Golden Ivory), despite checking every local chemist. I forgot about True Match Minerals (TMM) for a while, until recently I spotted it (in the correct shade!!!) at my local Boots. Yay!!!
I've been using TMM for about a week and I really do love it - it gives me perfect cover and looks really, really natural. It took me a couple of attempts to get the application method right and I've discovered that with this product - less is more. If you apply too much of the powder to your face, and then try to blend it in, you will find that the foundation will look patchy - however, if you apply the product sparingly and gradually build up to the cover you desire, then this product is almost faultless. It doesn't feel heavy on the skin, it isn't obvious that you're wearing foundation at all and it seems to control shine too. To get the best results from TMM it should not be applied straight after your moisturiser - as if the skin is still slightly tacky, then you will find that the powder will stick to it, but applied to dry skin - it works a treat. I don't follow the application instructions (as seen on the L'oréal Paris website) exactly - I've developed my own method for application, which works well for me. I would recommend would-be users to do the same and work out how to apply the product in a way that suits you. I can see this foundation lasting a long time and as such being very good value for money, as a little really does go a long way. I also found that my skin looked more radiant after applying the foundation, I felt like I was glowing, rather than being drained by a foundation which masked all my natural colour.
Now I've talked about the product itself - what about the packaging? Well, it looks lovely - elegant and simple. Also, it does seem like good value, because you get a very lovely, soft yet firm application brush as an integrated part of the packaging. Basically the foundation powder is stored in a little pot, the lid of which has the brush sticking out of it, which then has a plastic cover to protect it. The foundation is in, what is effectively, a little talcum powder shaker, with several holes in the top to release the powder. So to apply the product you remove the cover from the brush, turn the pot upside down, to release some of the product into the chamber below the brush. Next unscrew the brush and dab it into the powder - then apply to your face in circular motions. It works pretty well, although you have to be careful, because it could get messy if you accidentally tip the pot upside down without the lid on. If you get too much powder in the chamber, then you can gently shake the pot and some of it will fall back into container. It is a tad fiddly and the back of the brush will probably have a powder residue on it, which is annoying and a bit wasteful, but in reality, as the powder is so fine, it won't cause any problems.
In summary - I think this is an innovative loose powder foundation, which offers a slightly more heavy-duty cover (yet still natural) than its pressed powder cousins. So it's great if you're looking for a product that falls somewhere between a powder and a liquid. The downside is that it's more messy to apply than a solid powder and doesn't come in an overly handbag friendly container. However the finish is beautiful and once you've got used to applying the product, it's much easier than liquid foundation.
I would buy this product again without a moment's hesitation!
Advantages: Cheap for mineral foundation. Disadvantages: Poorly designed, bad colour choice, bad coverage and shine control.
