First off, let me explain my skin type. I have acne scars, still get the occasional spot and have oily skin that somehow manages to feel tight and dry in the morning if i don't moisturise, only to become extremely oily later in the day.
I had heard all of the hype sorrounding mineral make-up and thought this sounded like an excellent idea for my skin type, as the packaging claims that it has "no perfume, no preservatives, oil-free, non-comodogenic, SPF 15". What could possibly go wrong? Nothing to clog up my pores and cause more breakouts, sun protection, oil free! It also claimed that it would even my skin tone like a foundation even though it is just like a powder. This all sounded great.
I went to superdrug and bought this for 12.99, about the average price. It was available in most chemists and supermarkets for around the same price. However, when I got there I was severely disappointed by the colour selection. There seemed to be a very limited number of shades. I am very pale but I opted for the second lightest shade, golden beige, since it was summer and I was slightly more tanned than usual, not that I had much choice as most of the shades had sold out.
I got it home and read the instructions, which were slightly more complicated than your average foundation. You have to remove the lid, then remove a piece of film, then attatch the lid again, turn it upside down, remove the lid and then dip the brush into the powder that has appeared. I followed all of this and attempted to shake off the excess powder from the brush, just like it said. The only problem with this was that it went absolutely EVERYWHERE. I ended up with it all over my clothes and the carpet. However, I carried on sure that it was just my fault and that surely they wouldn't have designed the packaging to be so small that you can't shake the excess off into it. I applied it to my face and it looked horrendous. Even with the excess shaken off it looked like a huge orange patch on my face. I tried to buff it around my face as I was instructed, but this didn't help at all. It was patchy and very, very orange on my face. Even though the colour was so dark, it didn't give me good coverage at all! You could still see every little mark on my face. I washed it all off and started again, this time putting a lot less on, and hoped for the best. I kept it on all day hoping that it would keep my oil under control, but my skin just seemed oilier than ever. I kept attempting to use this make-up, but everytime it just made my skin very shiny and orange looking. It also caused me to breakout in spots, but I'm not sure if that was because of the actual make-up or because of all the grease on my face.
As I've already mentioned, I was disappointed with the packaging. The brush wasn't good enough to do the job properly, and didn't feel soft against my face. It also picked up far too much product and when you tried to get rid of the excess it just went all over the place. Also, for some reason, the make-up started to smell a bit strange very quickly. I wasn't sure if this was just how it was supposed to smell, but I didn't notice it when I first used it. It smelt almost as though it had gone bad.
I wouldn't consider buying this product again as it was expensive for something that just didn't work. I also wouldn't recommend it to anyone looking for good coverage, or anyone with oily skin.

My skin is the same (dry in morning and oily later on) I really struggle to find something that doesn't look flaky or irritate my skin. Good review and good luck with the continued hunt!
Advantages: cheap for a mineral make up Disadvantages: Scratchy brush, the correct shade hard to find.
