I'm always been skeptical when a so called new revolutionary product gets on the market. I have heard a lot about mineral make up from ppl on youtube (so mainly ppl like you and I) so I decided to try it myself.
My skin type is normal/dry with acne. My face is not oily at all though I can get spots very easily if I apply too many products at the same time or containing acne triggers (whether chemical or natural!).
My skin tone is sort of medium ivory (with warm undertones) with many acne scars, whiteheads and a bit blotchy on the nose and eye corners.
Good points:
- Boots where I got my true match mineral doesn't have a lot of shades in stock and I struggled a bit to find mine. I have picked N6 (honey glow) which once at home looked very very dark. I thought I had made a mistake but in fact, it suits very well my skin tone adding a bit of warmth
- Handy little pot for handbags
- Once applied it doesn't change colour as so many other foundations do
- It's extremely ligth and truly feels like you're wearing no make up
- A very little is needed
- The combination of powder at the bottom and brush at the top (that you unscrew) is genius
- What makes it so different is the glow you get. Like a polished/airbrushed look though don't expect absolute perfection, it's sheer. If you try to achieve a full coverage, it'll definitely look cakey.
- I also tried it on a birthmark on my leg and it gave very good results
- It lasts fairly enough well, doesn't rub off (try with sweeping a paper tissue a few hours after, it won't transfer)
- It's easy to remove, you can even forget to de-make up, it's safe enough to stay on the skin
- Didn't cause me breakouts
Not so good points:
- I found it very long to blend, and you do need to blend carefully - Tapping the brush off is not that easy - If you use too much of it or don't tap the excess off (so means you need a bit of practice), it will look awful, it will make spots difficult to blend off - It's a bit pricey in my opinion
TIPS for best results:
- Have a impeccably clean face to start with, and well moisturized (Ive found it a tiny bit drying) - Do wait at least 5 minutes for your moisturizer to be absorbed, pat any excess with tissue - Start with very little and BLEND, BLEND, BLEND - Carefully pick your shade if possible while wearing no make up and not coming straight from excessive weather conditions (cold, heat etc) - Try over and over before you decide if you like it or not or until you find the right way for you to apply it
Conclusion:
I'm really suprised about mineral make up. I'm truly a convert!!
