I normally don't use L'oreal Paris make up. It is in the lower end range but yet seems to be quite expensive compared to other brands such as Rimmel and Maybelline. If I am going for a cheap brand, I will go for these. If I am looking for something a little more luxury I will go for Benefit or Mac. L'oreal Paris seems to be a brand that sits in the middle.
This time though, when buying foundation, I decided to go for this brand. There has been a real buzz around mineral make-up recently. It is the new big thing and I have previously tried only one brand of mineral make-up so Idecided I should really give it another go. Mineral make-up is meant to be better for your skin as it is more natural by being made from minerals. This is quite appealing to me as my skin does tend to play up. I get in a viscious circle of getting spots and using foundation to cover them up , which in turn clogs my skin up and causes more spots. The idea that this wouldn't clog the skin up is perfect for me. I must admit though that I am a little aprehensive that something that is just powder would actually be able to cover up any skin inpurities that I have.
The
packaging for this product is quite attractive. It is quite a large container that is clear. In the bottom is a tub that contains the mineral foundation. Above this is the brush, which is round and fairly large. This is covered by a plastic lid. The shade of the foundation is stated on top. This comes in a variety of shades. The one that I have is the beige rose. The middle of the pot is silver and has the L'oreal Paris logo. The whole packaging looks fairly high end although just not as good as the actual luxury brands.
To use the product you have to take the lid off and then unscrew the brush which is attached to the tub. When this has been taken off there is a tray above the part with the powder in. This has holes in and acts as a tray as the powder comes through it. This can be a little hard to get through to begin but after a while it is easy to use. To apply the foundation you just have to swish the brush around the tray with the powder in. This is where you come to the main problem of the foundation. I don't know if it is just me but I seem to end up with the powder all over me. It is obviously very fine so you have to be very careful when handling this product. I tend to get this problem both when i am adding the powder to the brush and also when i am applying the foundation to my face. It is a bit annoying and not the easiest thing to get out of clothes you are wearing. Once you have applied the powder to the brush though you can apply it to yoour face. You do this just by brushing the powder over your face in all the areas you want the foundation.
It is quite an easy product to use once you have got the hang of the technique. I quuite like brushing the product on as it makes for quite a good coverage. I find that the product did give good coverage over the face, which I think is important. If I have moisterised the face before applying the powder it can stick to the parts that have the most moisteriser on, which can ruin the coverage.I would recommend that you wait a while after this before applying the foundation.
I was surprised to find how well that this foundation could cover inperfections. It did manage to cover spots and also in a way that looks more natural than when I put loads of concealer or liquid foundation on. This is definitely a plus to the product.
The shade of the foundation was quite good for me when I purchased it as it was early Spring and I had pale skin. Unfortunately now I have been on holiday and so it looks much too pale for me. It would probably work with a little bronzer over the top but I think I will be saving it now till my skin pales a little again. There are darker tones availble, so I am sure I could find one that matched but with the ever changing colour of my skin in the summer it is not really worth it.
A good thing about this product and other mineral foundations is that it lasts a long time due to the fact you only need to use a small amount each time. This product has so far lasted me a couple of months and I still have a lot more left. I don't use the product every day but i still think it would last a heavy user a while.
True Match Minerals Foundations is available from a lot of stores inclusing supermarkets, Superdrug and Boots. It can be purchased for normally between 12 and 14 pounds. This may seem fairly pricey but the product would last you a while.
Overall I think True Match Minerals is a good foundation that provides good coverage. It is also better for your skin. The only problem is the messiness it can cause.
