If it says strong and extra strong, don't believe them. Either way, its as soft as a big cousin. But the only good thing about this stuff is that it smells good. A big disappointment for Garnier.
~WHAT IT SAYS IT DOES?~
This so-called strong gel say that it lasts long on your hair. We all know that that's a lie. When i finished my few tubes of wax i wanted to try gel because my friends said it was stronger and it will stay up longer. So i trusted them and my mum bought me this modelling gel. So i tried it and waited it to dry. It normally takes 10-15 minutes for another brand of gel to dry but this one took 30 minutes. So i thought to my self to but another one of there gels but not the same type. (You can get wet look gel, modelling gel ect from them.) And i tried the wet look one. Guess what? I had the same problem!
It also says the you and create styles that you can't do with other types of gel because there was a magical formula the structures your hair which keeps your hair up from where you put it. There wrong, again. When i made my hair into a shape and waited it to dry it just gradually drop down. So i got some of my left-over wax (there was only a finger nail touch left!) and put the same bit up. This time, the wax made it stay up. But it didn't harden. So i couldn't wait for this bottle to finish.
It lastly says that you can get a wet look effect that lasts. Which was what i wanted. So i did the directions for the wet look. (You have to make your hair damp for the wet look!) So i went in the shower knowing it wouldn't work. But i was kind of right and wrong. The wrong thing was that it did what it did when it was dry. Fall down. But faster. And yet i thought i would get the wax. Then something sprang into my mind. Not to because i wouldn't only ruin it more. So it keep on lifting my hair many times until it became dry. The right thing was that it did give me a wet look. But like i said it kept on falling down. That was what spoiled the gel and meant i had to get another kind.
~PERFORMANCE~
When i tried this hassle of trying to make it work. I was really disappointed. My hair is now all dry and sticky and i wasted most of my time trying to make this stuff work. And the wet look has made my hair dandruff. Now most of my friends now slag me off every day! Normally i like Garnier and i think i have changed my mind after the results. So until the next time i go to my local shop where i buy this stuff (next week!), I'll have to make do with my left-over wax.
~SMELL~
The only good thing about the gel is the smell. The fragrance of the gel just bursts out with a refreshing smell of fresh fruit. (That's why it got Fructis style on the tube) which makes you feel like your on some sort of tropical islands. To me, this is the worst gel to style up your hair, but the best for the refreshing smell it gives you.
~TUBE~
The tube of this crap gel is not posh at all. But it looks quite popular. (If only they were) If i was the owner of Garnier i would call all of my products the "The Lying Style"! Why? Because if tell you the opposite of what it does on the tube. The only right thing on it is that it says long-lasting hold. There right because you will hold this bottle for ages thinking how much money you have waste. Thinking of waste, you waste have of it when you try to drop a bit on your hands. It leeks out onto the lid so most of it falls onto the carpet. Im really appalled!
~THE PRICE AND WHERE TO BUY~
You get this at many supermarkets like Asda and Tesco and you also get this at some chemists like Boots. (Not cheap supermarkets or chemists!) Some times, i think why those shops buy that stuff and try to sell it when no one is going to buy it! But the last time the sold them it was £2! You might as well to try and use water! It works for me!
~END RESULT~
I bet you can guess what im thinking of this product. Yes your correct i hate this and i definitely don't recommend this to you. It is cheap and nasty and is not worth your money. So, if your going to buy gel, make sure its not this one or any Garnier gels! I you don't, you will regret it!
Advantages: EAsy to use. A little goes a long way. Reasonably priced. Disadvantages: Using to much makes your hair hard and dull.

It was the Garnier Fructis gel range - with spiking, strong hold and maximum strength on offer, I plumped for spiking, because I like that little flick up at the front.
(I am going to rate each category out of five too)
This is what I thought...

When I bought this gel, I opened the lid and gave it a little sniff. A distinct whiff of fruit greeted me, much better than the previous Brylcreem, which smelt quite staid.
It seems rather sad but I had to smell it regularly because I liked it so much when I got home - all I had to do now ...

Advantages: easy to use/ rinse out, smells great Disadvantages: slightly weak hold
...first tried Fructis gel by garnier after being given a free sample in my university welcome pack after arriving in Exeter, back last September. Ive tried a number of Fructis products in the past although id never been particularly impressed so this was a welcome suprise to me!
First things first, the first thing that hits you about Fructis gel by garnier is its fragrance. It simply smells great, and is suprisingly fruity. The scent also lasts for ... ...meeting you're boyfriend/girlfriend (delete as appropriate). Fructis gel is also extremely easy to use. It is best applied to towel dry hair after showering - you simply work a small amount between your hands and massage into your hair until you achieve your desired effect. Be warned though, a little goes a long way so there is no need to go over the top - If you use too much you're almost certain to be left with clumps of it in places, definately ...

Advantages: Reasonable hold, smells nice Disadvantages: Can irritate scalp, can be expensive, tends to wash out in rain
I am cursed with ginger hair, curly ginger hair. A good proprtion of my teenage years was spent trying to find a way to keep my barnet under strict control - it was bad enough for it to be ginger, but ginger and curly was just too much! Luckily I've learnt to live with my hair now, but the curls can still get annoying so I am permanently on the look out for new gels and waxes. One day rumaging through the shelves at Boots I came across this bright ... ...(whatever they may be) all over it and I thought I'd cough up the reasonably expensive £3.99 for 125ml. I'd seen a lot of advertising for the brand on TV with their funky adverts and thought it would be worth a try...after all its allegedly an innovation. Its supposed to be as easy to use (i.e. to apply and wash out) as gel but offer the support and styling ability as wax.
The first thing you notice about this gel is the wonderful smell - it really ...

Advantages: Nice smell, nice packaging, holds quite well Disadvantages: Very flaky and it doesn't hold your hair all day & night like it claims!
...new "innovation" hair gel from Garnier called "Fructis style" which promises long-lasting hold and contains, the intriguing-sounding, "fruit micro-waxes." It comes in two types; Structurising or Spikey, both under the banner of "creation control."
It's made by those people at Fructis, who, as you undoubtedly already know, also have such products as shampoos and conditioners (for different types) in their hair-care range.
I bought this gel simply ... ...and i was looking for something new to try! Strangely, the term "eyes bigger than your belly" springs to mind, in this case!
Okay, the positive aspects of using this "innovation" in structurising Gel, are as follows:
REPUTATION: What's in a name?
~~~Garnier who make Fructis are excellent with their face and body products. So admittedly you're more inclined to buy this gel or other items in the Fructis range simply for the name and rep'. Especially ...
GarnierFructis Spiking Gel is one of the better Gel products I have ever used, it is great for both men and woman and leaves your hair smelling beautiful.
The product is available in most good retailers and is often on offer in Tesco's, Asda and superdrug.
Packaging:
The product comes in a long green 200ml tube, the packaging is fully recyclable and visably shows the name of the product which is clearly identified, the packaging stands out quite dramatically with it being a bold green colour so easy to spot on the shelf.
Product:
The product itself contains fortifying fruit micro-waxes which is extremly beneficial for the hair and helps maintain its strength, it smells so fresh and fruity without being to intense and over powering, the product only needs applying one through out the day as the style you create stays in place ...
I use garnier as I have really curly hair and I find that this is one of the two gels that hold my hair.
I usally gel my hair just before i go out and i am assured that it will hold my hair though out the day. As i dont like my hair having the natural look as it dosent look as good as when I have it with gel. If also find that I can buy this at a very cheap price. As the other hair gel I use it £29.99 per tub. Although it last quite a long time this also does. As because my hair is very curley I have to use quite alot to get it up staright without falling back down. I reccomend this product to anyone that is having problem syling their hair and it just flattens. ...
Advantages: Does exactly what it claims! Disadvantages: Doesn't look natural, but then spikes aren't!
Hello all! Long time, no review! To mark my return to Ciao, here is my review of GarnierFructis Style Spiking Gel ("Oh, the excitement" I hear you cry)!
My brother has become something of a rebel since he turned 17. One night he cheerfully announced that he was going to get a mohican haircut. One glance at my parents horrified look convinced me that a compromise would be needed, or bags would be packed. I gently suggested to my bro that it might be wise to start with something a little less radical, lest it went pear shaped and he ended up looking a total prat! Vanity prevailed and he decided to go for a slightly safer 'Kevin Pieterson' type style of old - spikey down the middle, but without the skunk stripe!
Of course, he then realised the drawback of this delightful new 'do' is maintenance. That is where this Spiking Gel comes ...
