The Labtec Gaming Fx:1 Headset was the 1st headset i bought for gaming and when i got it i was quite happy because at the time i didn't have very much money and they were quite cheap (£11 from a computer shop in the Metro Centre i think) I was quite happy until about a week later, then all the problems started to come out on this little bundle from hell.

The problems on the Labtec Gaming Fx:1 Headset are quite bad and i would never buy it again, but there are some redeeming features on this headset. The main one of these is the fact that it has a volume control on the wire that plugs into the computer, this is quite helpful in games were the volume of the game goes from quite to loud (i don't know how many times i have been playing games were there has bin a quiet scene and have turned the volume up on the computer and then something very loud happens and i get deafened and i crap myself at the same time lol) It also has a mute button on the volume control incase you wanna shout something really bad at someone you are playing with over the internet and don't want them to hear lol. Another good point about this headset is that it's just a plug and play device so you don't need any sort of software to use it. It also has a very good mic on it.

That is were the good points end though, here are the bad point. Due to the fact that the Labtec Gaming Fx:1 Headset has a behind the ear design they hurt my ears lol, they say that it stays comfortable but it doesn't, it rests on the top of your ear and after a while it really gets sore (this is why i would never recommend this to anyone) because my ear gets pushed out and squished between the actual speaker part and the ear rest. Another very very annoying thing about this mic is the mic doesn't stay put! Its a good quality mic by it slowly moves down when you wear it and after about 10 mins it was down past my chin. This gets very annoying when you are speaking to someone while playing and they can't hear you and you have to move the mic backup.

To get around the bad points until i saved enough money to buy a good headset i glued the mic in place, put the headset around my neck and used a different set of earphones lol

Over all this product is rubbish and i pray no one else has to use it ever.

Review of Labtec Axis 711 Headset by  Rubeenio

Advantages: High quality sound an mic
Disadvantages: only one ear headphone

...People that have read some of my reviews will remember my damning review of the Labtec Gaming Fx:1 headset and the experiences of this headset put me off buying another Labtec headset. Now you might be saying how can you do another review on a Labtec headset if you never got another one? Well the answer is I never got another one, my dad got me another one as a present :s. He didn't know all the trouble with the 1st Labtec headset but I decided to give this headset a go because it was quite a thoughtful gift and it looked like Labtec had learned their lesson with "comfortable behind the ear" style headset and made a normal headset. I started using this headset with a bit of a closed mind but after the 1st couple of hours I was in love with it. The Axis 711 is a superb headset! Nothing like its "troublesome little brother" the Labtec... Read review
