Well to be honest I am presently typing this on my old hard wired keyboard and mouse, the reason? Is that after just two days of moderate use the batteries have gone flat in the mouse and has become unusable!
My last keyboard of this type had the same problem and I thought it was just a problem with the manufacturer that I chose but I now think it is a design fault in the way wireless keyboards are built and sold. I think the problem is with the way they use the laser in the mouse and this drains too much power thus flattening the batteries very soon with use.
This is not good, and not only is it very expensive to use as they need the best types of power cells just to work at all, but very bad for the environment. I do not get this with my wireless mouse that has a rolling ball. I guess this technology is better as the light source to detect movement uses a hundred times less power to work so lasts a few weeks between changing batteries not just two days like the Labtec one.
One more problem I found with this set-up and a very important one for game players was even on brand new power cells, if you are playing a game like Battlefield, whereby you need to keep a key pressed to run forward this keyboard stops transmitting after just a few seconds as it needs to charge the power back up again and this takes a few seconds and can mean instant death in games.
So my conclusion about this and other wireless keyboards and mouse set-ups is thus. Avoid the laser type, don't use for games, buy shares in Duracell.
