I am a sucker for fiction, especially Classics. I have an insatiable appetite for reading. I like reading controversial authors like D.H Lawrence. I read “Lady Chatterley’s Lover” recently.
It was sexually explicit yet beautiful. I didn’t find it raunchy or derogatory in any way. I believe the book was banned from publication in the UK because of the nature of its content. The book was quite an interesting read though some parts dragged on unnecessarily. The story seems like a reflection of events in Lawrence’s own unhappy domestic life.
It is no secret that writers draw inspiration from real life. I like way Lawrence structures his sentences in all his works. His sentences are intense – you need to be able to read between the lines. I don’t think “Sons and Lovers” is Lawrence’s best work, I personally feel it is “Lady Chatterley’s Lover”. Bibliophiles might want to give it a try.
