Lakeland Chrome Banana Tree

Sharing a flat with two other people means not having much space for your food. We each only have one cupboard each and 1 shelf each in the fridge and freezer. In an attempt to free up a bit of space and use up some of the counters which were normally free, I scoured the Lakeland website trying to figure out what would help me the most and then I came across a banana tree.

This chrome banana tree from Lakeland will set you back £6.99. It is made out of chrome which is basically bent into a swirl at the bottom then going upwards into a hook at the very top. The height of the banana tree is around 10 inches. For this price, I think this product is extremely basic and the base could have maybe been maybe a bit sturdier considering what you are paying for it. However, the design is simple and elegant and will easily fit into any kitchen well.

Something I didn’t know before buying this product that bananas actually give off gases which will affect any other fruit if they are in a bowl together. This information is on the product page on the Lakeland website and without this, I never would have known. After finding that out, it made me want to purchase this product even more. I generally have quite a lot of fruit in the house at all times, ready to make fruit salads, so it only made sense to separate the bananas from everything else because of the gases.

We each have different sections of the kitchen for our own gadgets after putting in the big stuff like a microwave. This banana tree doesn’t take up much space at all on the counter and it now saves me a lot of space in my fruit bowl. As the bananas hang off the hook at the top, they no longer get crushed and bruised by other pieces of fruit and this keeps them better for a lot longer now. The only real problem is that you do need to have more than one banana on this tree at any time as one will just end up falling off.

I really love this product and think it is a fabulous idea. I would have liked for it to be a bit cheaper but I use it all the time so I’m definitely getting my monies worth out of it.
