Spring is in the air; the daffodils are swaying gently with the breeze, the apple blossom has taken full bloom scattering its petals along the way…. the outdoors looks and feels fresh and beautiful again. To capture the mood and aroma I think Lancôme’s juicy tubes lipgloss is the perfect product to create the most luscious, sensational, and fruity lips.
I first came across Lancome’s juicy tubes by reading raving reviews on Ciao and then every magazine I saw was giving high praise to these tubes. I am not new to the Lancôme brand having previously used much of their make up and skincare but one that’s worth remembering is their unique and original ideas such as Fred Farrugia’s mind blowing colour creations he did for Lancôme with the Chrysalis Spring Collection “Ombre Subtle Duo” eyeshadows
which involves the clever use of colour by mixing black and white to give the colour of blue! (anybody remember those?) Similarly, Lancome’s juicy tubes are clearly in a field of their own in the world of lip glosses.
Only a Lip Gloss… - Does it do the job?
Now, you may be thinking hell its only a lip gloss, but how many times have you bought a lip gloss only to find it’s run and smeared all over your mouth like butter! What I’m trying to say here has it got holding power? Lancome’s juicy tubes are different in that they provide the most luscious irresistible glossy lips in a variety of sheer colours that stays put without bleeding due their gel-like texture.
There are a variety of colours, about twelve shades available, that give a transparent sheer shine. Most are very transparent and only give a hint of colour whilst giving maximum shine. There are 3 series of shades starting with the transparent shimmers (with hardly no colour) progressing to the pearly and semi-transparent and finally the pigmented medium coverage ones (that give more colour). I chose 2 colours one from the pearly semi-transparent called Lychee (shade 19) this is a pinky colour with bits of glitter in; at first I thought no way is this going to suit me as its got glitter in and may look too glitzy or one only for a night-out, but I was wrong this is very deceptive it looks shimmering and adds a 3 dimensional interesting reflection to the lips. The other shade I chose is from the pigmented medium coverage range called tutti frutti (shade 21)- this tube looks orange coloured and gives a rusty orange colour with a sheer colour dark enough just to show through and suits my tanned skin perfectly. Recently, Lancôme have brought out some new Spring shades in browns and beiges e.g. Nude, though I haven’t tested those.
The Experience…The Texture, The Feel, The Smell, The Result
Now girls you really do have to experience the Juicy tubes for yourself, as they are in a word sensational! Firstly, they smell gorgeous, very fruity; some smell like melon, some smell more citrussy. The aroma is delicate its not overpowering and you won’t smell like the Body Shop (or should that be Lush for Ciao-ers!) or a Fruit shop! These lip glosses are different in application; there is no brush, no magic wand, just a tube with a bevelled tip, which is to be used as an applicator. See the Ciao Product photo it is correct that is how the tube looks and that is most probably the Lychee colour! You just squeeze a small amount out and smear across your lips. It never bulges out and you wont get loads squirting out as it is not runny, in fact it can be quite adhesive as it’s a gel like texture, it’s the gel that binds it together and ensures staying power. Tutti Frutti is one of my favourite colours it gives a warm fresh outlook that would suit all complexions, the orange shade would especially suit the sun kissed complexions. The feeling is soft, moist, and glossy lips. You have the power to add more or less depending on the effect you wish to achieve, you can add more for a more glamorous effect.
Now you’re wondering is there a down side to this..? after all reviews are singing high praise for these tubes, well I can only see one minor technical problem; as I mentioned these have a gel like texture that’s gives them the holding power other lip glosses lack, the downside is although Lancôme advertise these as non-sticky, I have found my Lychee coloured tube a bit sticky, whether that’s to do with it having glitter in or maybe a bit too much was squeezed out I don’t know. My other shade Tutti-Frutti is however fine. On a personal scale some of the colours maybe too transparent or too sheer to show up and one may be advised to try other liglosses such as Lancôme’s ‘star gloss’ that comes with a brush. However the sheer texture, effect and feel of the juicy tubes is most appealing so if its more colour you’re looking for I’d recommend tutti-frutti if you like shades or orange or rust, or raison (shade 23) or prune, looks very glamorous!
So how much did these tubes cost me then? Normally, these Juicy Tubes cost £11 Sterling pounds but I got them for free! Yes, that’s right you’ll be glad to know this is a redeemable product as Boots whereby I traded my hard earned advantage card points (1100 points). For this sum of money you get 15ml of lip gloss in a tube, although that’s not a lot and seems to be in range of most manufacturers supply as lip gloss you’ll find you only need a small amount and usually there’s no wastage.
Other similar products to consider
Other lip glosses you should consider if you’re into lip glosses is Ruby & Millie’s lip gloss, this comes with a brush and is like a pen you just twist and apply. There are some superb rich colours in the range that beg to be touched. They are however more expensive than Lancôme and will cost you £13.
My final verdict: highly recommended for a sheer natural shine with a hint of colour that lasts for luscious looking lips that are simply juicylicious!!!

I got a four pack of these from my sister for my birthday. I love the taste and appearance but I can't believe they say they're non sticky?! They are THE most sticky lip gloss I have ever used!
