Lancome's Juicy Tubes have been available for a while and as a fan of glosses and balms I bought one for myself as treat.
The Gloss comes in 15ml tubes with a screw cap. There is no 'wand' but, instead, a hole in the tip of the tube which the gloss is squeezed out of - then you just use the rounded end of the tube to spread the gloss. Very easy. I guess a mirror is ideal but you can manage without.
The texture is good. It is a little sticky for my liking but this is probably why the stuff has such good lasting power. It smells divine - all the fruit flavours are true to their names-which put me off buying 'melon' because I hate the smell of melon. I have mine in 'Chilled' - obviously not a fruit flavour but a very versatile brown-gold colour. I love this because it has beautiful golden pigments in it - they are very subtle but boost the shine and glitter of the gloss. Despite this, its naturally 'effortless' and would look great over lipstick. What I like most is that although it gives you instant sex-appeal, its not over the top as many of the more glamour-puss red and candy colours can be. Basically, there is a huge range now and you can almost certainly find a colour to suit.
I think it will last me a good while. I suppose the disadvantage is the fact that it doesnt actively condition your lips. However, I have just seen an advert for 'hydrating' juicy tubes which I guess will serve this purpose.
The adverts do make the gloss look shinier than it is, but it's still an impressive shine and the more you apply, the glossier it is. It does last really well if you're not eating or drinking. It gradually wears off as opposed to completely losing its shine which I like a lot. If you do eat or drink - like any shiny lip product, you will suffer. But I am yet to find a gloss or balm that doesn't have this problem - if you know of any, let me know.
The price is quite expensive, but the tubes are a good size, a great flavour and smell, fairly long-lasting and its the type of packaging you could proudly display in the ladies. I think you are paying for a name - but at the same time, it beats cheaper gloss hands down. I am dying to try the hydrating ones now!!
A good product - if a little expensive at £12 now for a 15ml tube. You can track them down at larger Boots stores and pretty much any department store worth its salt.
It is a cult buy - but one thats worth most of the hype.
