Introduction
I received a free Lancome Juicy Tubes 7g (half-size) Lip Gloss at a Lancome counter when purchasing other products from them. I only ever used them as a gloss for going out and was impressed it's long lasting rich and glossy. formula. When my lips recently became cracked and my Palmer's Dark Chocolate and Cherry Lip Balm didn't help, having nothing else to use, I resorted to the Lip Gloss to protect my chapped lips. I was amazed that within the hour, my lips were re-hydrated, replenished and crack-free!
The packaging
The packaging is fun and classy at the same time and immediately grabs your attention. The long and see-through plastic tube is light and handy and it closes with a screw-on top.
The 14g (full-size) gloss comes in more than 20 varieties and in as many colours. The tube is cleverly equipped with a handy tube-tip applicator. The consistency of the sparkly, somewhat sticky gel-like substance isn't too thick or thin and it glides on the lips easily. I have the 'Toffee Pop' variety and it's sugar candy / caramel aroma is very pleasant, not too overpowering and you can smell it long after you put it on.
Product claims
- Ultra-shine gel - Natural transparence and brillance - Glamourous lacquered effect
Results
- Ultra-shine gel 5 / 5
The gloss is shiny, though it isn't really a gel, it's rather like clear butter which means it will stick and can be quite frustrating when your hair gets stuck on it. It has a lovely moisturising effect though.
- Natural transparence and brillance 4 / 5
None of the glosses is completeley transparent, it has both a light tinge (mine is golden brown) and some sparkly bits which will be visible when you wear it. The sparklies will tend to smudge and will appear in the corner of your lips after wearing it for a few hours so the gloss doesn't stay put for long.
- Glamourous lacquered effect 3 / 5
The lacquered effect is good though I wouldn't say it's brilliant. It's consistency is not entirely as smooth and clear-cut as lipsticks' so the lacquered effect can easily become patchy and will not give an even, full coverage.
Conclusion
For what it claims to be - an Ultra Shiny Cooling Lips Gloss - , I don't think Juicy Tubes are fully up to the mark however because it's packed with oils, it's a smoothing and softening moisture gel that soothes and heals cracked and dehydrated lips in no time at all. All this comes at a price though and you have to shop around for it online. Try it before you buy, it may disappoint you if you're only after the claimed ultra glossy, laquered look!
Price / where to buy
The full price of a 14g lip gloss is £13.50 at Lancome beauty counters but can less than half price online.
Thanks for reading.

PS. The "Gloss?" criteria below is wrongly 'no' as Ciao won't let me choose any other option in the sliding bar.
