I bought this as an ex demo model about 5 years ago. I had never used a Laney before but was amazed by the sound quality for an unfashionable brand. Brand new, you should expect to pay around £450, which i think is fantastic value for money.
Overdrive channel gives it an excellent vintage sound with a glassy, clean channel. Extremely good build quality, making it extremely heavy for a combo. It is based on the AC30, popularised by the Beatles.
Try finding a class A valve amplifier with spring reverb from a major brand at this price level!
It has a black leatherette finish, chrome control plate with chicken head dials and black grill cloth, chrome corner protecters and a leather handle. It looks very smart and has been commented on frequently when i have been gigging with it.
It has a tendency for microphonic feedback at high volumes and if you want distortion then you better get a fuzz pedal.
The EQ is pretty weak and its really only got 2 sounds, both of which are very good but if you want variety you will have to make use of its effect loop.
