Advantages: Wide Tonal Range, Quality Construction, Price Disadvantages: No Reverb
...Features
------------
The Laney Hardcore MAX HCM15B contains a wide range of features which makes it an excellent combo practice amp or an amp for a small performance. The amp features a 15watt custom 8” driver which is more than adequate for its application and can get to amazing volumes with no distortion, onboard headphone controller and compressor. The amp also features a CD/Line input jack and Bass/ Swept Middle/Treble/Master knobs. The only feature I would have like to see featured in this amp is Reverb although this is available with many other models.
Expandability
-------------------
The Laney Hardcore MAX HCM15B Bass Practice Amplifier is very expandable as it enables the connection of an additional bass cab utilising the existing inputs although for the price of the additional cab you would probably be best to purchase...

Advantages: Cheap vox AC30 with an overdrive channel Disadvantages: Very heavy
...I bought this as an ex demo model about 5 years ago. I had never used a Laney before but was amazed by the sound quality for an unfashionable brand. Brand new, you should expect to pay around £450, which i think is fantastic value for money.
Overdrive channel gives it an excellent vintage sound with a glassy, clean channel. Extremely good build quality, making it extremely heavy for a combo. It is based on the AC30, popularised by the Beatles.
Try finding a class A valve amplifier with spring reverb from a major brand at this price level!
It has a black leatherette finish, chrome control plate with chicken head dials and black grill cloth, chrome corner protecters and a leather handle. It looks very smart and has been commented on frequently when i have been gigging with it.
It has a tendency for microphonic feedback at high volumes...

Advantages: Good Tone, Comprehensive EQ, Cheap Disadvantages: Unreliable, Quite low power
..., however if the gain is anything above +1 or 2 (out of 5) the sound distorts which i find quite annoying when tryin to get a lot of mids tou of the amp. otherwise, i think this is a much better way of working than just having a mids knob.
Treble is used to manipulate the amount of treble frequencies exaggerated.
Limit defeat when turned on bypasses the limiter. the limiter is a built in feature, which when the amps is cranked up loud, cuts out the very loud peaks as it trys to protect your speaker cab.
finally volume adjust the overall output of the amp.
also the amp has 2 inputs, one for active and one for passive basses, and there is a DI output for going to a mixer of a PA, and a tuner output and effects loop.
I think that the number of features on this amp is excellent for the price of it. all of the features work quite well...
