Advantages: Price, Performance, Finish, Stupendous Value Disadvantages: Not an SM58, maybe a bit “bright” for some
...power p.a.’s ?!?!?!?!?
The Behringer comes in a sturdy plastic carry case with shaped foam inserts to make sure your mic is safely tucked up between gigs, and it also comes with a mic stand clip. The clip is pretty good as well as there is a removable brass (I think) adapter so that your mike clip will fit most mike stands.
The Shure’s came in a black vinyl pouch with no other protection. This could have been the shop’s fault as they must have arrived at their premises in something sturdier – I’m not sure on this point as someone else bought the Shure’s.
Sound wise, both microphones have plenty of depth but the Behringer sounds brighter, with more sparkle than the Shure. Any Shure I’ve used be it SM57 or SM58 produced a flat, slightly dull sound. The Behringer achieves a brighter sound without...

Advantages: Cheap, Professional, Easy to use Disadvantages: None
...Behringer has gained a deserved reputation amongst musicians on a budget for its ability to produce high-quality, low-price equipment that will rival the quality of the likes of brands such as Korg, whilst still letting you keep a roof over your head. The Xenyx 2442FX proves just that. At around £199.99 RRP, the model retails at half the price of it competitors. Behringer know that musicians often aren't made of money, which i find refreshing, and means that Behringer are amongst the brands i can trust.
What Does the Xenyx 2442FX Do?
The Xenyx is a 24-Input powered mixer that has 10 Phantom Power Microphone Preamps; several channel inputs for 1/4 inch jacks or phantom inputs; a state...

...installation and setup was confusing and it took me a while to get it working properly. it is necessary to download software from the behringer website in order for the device to function fully. this surprised me as most stuff is shipped with a CD.
it feels a bit plastic and cheaply built compared with other motorised mixers. the motors are pretty quiet and really fast. they are not as smooth as the more expensive motorised mixers but with the next cheapest thing being about £500 im not surprised.
i have been using one of these for about 6 months, and with the BCFview.exe application from the behringer website it is extremely valuable. having a hands-on control for mixing a track makes a massive difference for me....
