Advantages: Good Tone, Comprehensive EQ, Cheap Disadvantages: Unreliable, Quite low power
tried everything. it is more of a problem when the amp is moved, which is a big problem when gigging because i have to wait a while before the amp will play. i should have sent it back but the warranty has probably expired now.
but in the end i can always get the amp to play, and it doesnt bother me enough to send it back.
overall i think this amp is great and very cheap. the power rating of 165W is quite low in comparison to some bass amps, but again for the cahs is very good, and has been easily loud enough for quite large gigs. also i dont think that all laney products would be this unreliable otherwise they wouldnt sell.
i would definately recommend this amp, especially if you are on a budget, but if it plays up be sure to send it straight back. ...

Advantages: Good sound levels, 7 band EQ is a nice touch. Disadvantages: Heavy, awkward to carry,
Ok, so this was my first *big* amp and at 300 watts it is a beast. Its good to look at, with reinforced corners and large carry handles on the sides. This is a good feature because its a beast and weighs just over 30 KGS. On the front, there are a variety of controls, perhaps the most flexible is the 7 band graphic EQ which allows you to boost and cut (in Decibels) certain frequencies. This, used insightfully with the EQ on your bass opens tone you can only dream of ........
The other main controls are:
Volume, Gain, Enhance, Treble, Bass, two inputs, (one for passive basses and one for active, although these really dont make a tangible difference) a tweeter, or "horn" which is excellent for that crisp glassy sound when you pop and slap or just want that bit more.
It has cabinet connectivity so if you felt so inclined to up the power ...

Advantages: Cheap vox AC30 with an overdrive channel Disadvantages: Very heavy
I bought this as an ex demo model about 5 years ago. I had never used a Laney before but was amazed by the sound quality for an unfashionable brand. Brand new, you should expect to pay around £450, which i think is fantastic value for money.
Overdrive channel gives it an excellent vintage sound with a glassy, clean channel. Extremely good build quality, making it extremely heavy for a combo. It is based on the AC30, popularised by the Beatles.
Try finding a class A valve amplifier with spring reverb from a major brand at this price level!
It has a black leatherette finish, chrome control plate with chicken head dials and black grill cloth, chrome corner protecters and a leather handle. It looks very smart and has been commented on frequently when i have been gigging with it.
It has a tendency for microphonic feedback at high ...

Inspired by classic British valve amplifiers, the Laney VC30-212 combines vintage tone with Laney build quality and value. The range of VC30 combos offer classic British class A tone in a variety of speaker options. The VC30 features a single channel with footswitchable gain, with its own level control, three band EQ and a bright switch. If you\'re looking for that elusive living tone then look no further than the VC30. The VC30 generates very little cross over distortion because it runs in pure class A mode - its valves are always hot and ready to roll, which gives it that unmistakable class A sound and feel. If you\'ve never experienced that level of connection between a player an amp and a tone then you\'ve never tried a VC30. The VC30 is available in a number of different speaker options - the VC30-112 - which houses 1 x 12\ Custom designed 35 watt driver, the VC30-210 which houses a pair of 10\" Custom designed 35 watt drivers and the VC30-212 which is the classic retro option which features a pair of 12\" Custom designed 35 watt drivers. To complement the VC30 range of amplifier there are a range of dedicated extension cabinets in a couple of differing speaker options to give the player the opportunity to mix and match speaker complement to get that ultimate classic tones. The GS112VE is a 1 x 12\" extension cabinet and the GS210VE is a 2 x 10\" extension cabinet. Mix and match to your tones content. The main features of the Laney VC30-212 are: Power RMS : 30 Watts Inputs : Hi & Lo Jacks Channels : 2 Equalisation : Bass, Middle, Treble Bright Switch : Yes: On Clean Channel Preamp Valves : Premium ECC83 Output Valves : Premium EL84 Class : Class A Reverb : Yes Footswitch : FS2 (Not included) Speaker connections : Jack FX Loop(s) : Yes Impedance : Minimum 4 ohms Drivers : 2 x 12\" Celestion 70 Eighty Weight : 28.5 Kg Dimensions (mm) : 520 x 676 x 250"
