An umbilical of laptop life!
Review of HP Advanced Docking Station by andycharger

Advantages: Great connectivity, features, design
Disadvantages: needless design change

...both my current and old HP laptop, i have owned a matching docking station and the only critisism would be the fact that the older docking station is not compatible with the newer laptop even though there is only a matter of a year or so between. After all they are the same manufacturer! With that aside, the rest of this review is nothing but praise for my docking station! Looks. Matches the laptop superbly in colour as both are finished in the ...
...Docking Station (DS) the shape and style of it lends itself to supporting a monitor. The old DS simply had the laptop covering the entire item. The new DS sit behind the laptop when in position. OK it takes up more desk space but I think gives you somewhere safe to place your optional screen. Buttons. Much improved. On the old DS, you had to push 2 buttons on either side to release the laptop from the locks that hold it in place. These seemed a ... Read review

Houston, we have no problem!
Review of HP Basic Docking Station with Smart Adapter by sadoldbag

Advantages: Simple, quick way of commuting between desks with a laptop
Disadvantages: Takes a bit of space p on your desk, compared to simple laptop use

This HP docking station is a really useful piece of equipment. For those of you who have not used one before, what ia docking does is connect to all the peripherals on your desk. So you plug it in using its adapter and you can connect a mouse, a keyboard and a printer to it using USBs. You can connect a monitor to, if you want to, which I have. What's the point? Well what it means on a daily basis is that you can perhaps do away with the need for ...
...you could plug different people's HP laptops into it if you wanted to operate a hot desk with it. It costs £105 from PC World, but prices vary a bit depending on where you buy it from. As a daily home/work laptop commuter - I can really recommend this product. It has made my life simpler, my desk more pleasurable to sit at, and saves me a few minutes a day packing and unpacking. ... Read review

Good Hardware, Bad Software
Review of Freecom DVB-T Stick by ugm6hr

Advantages: Cheap, Works
Disadvantages: Poor software

...is different for Linux users (specifically Ubuntu 7.10). While Freecom does not officially support Linux, Realtek (who make the DVB chipset) have released a driver that has been modified for easy installation by the Ubuntu community (just search the forum). It works flawlessly with Kaffeine (free media player). ... Read review

Crappy and useless USB light
Review of Trust Mini USB Light by jeaniecz

Advantages: easy to get rid of it
Disadvantages: everything, its complete existence

...I have written about the Trust Mini USB Light NB-1150p, only this model is even worse from the construction point. The whole thing is too heavy to be held only in the USB port and the cable doesn't remain in a shape you put it into, so it gradually bends down onto your laptop, threatening to wiggle the USB port out. It gives only very weak and dim light, plus it keeps getting into your view of the screen as it slowly collapses. Not good or worth ... Read review

I don't trust Trust (Trust USB Light)
Review of Trust Mini USB Light NB-1150p by jeaniecz

Advantages: Looks.
Disadvantages: Light, clip.

The first of my USB lights, which made me realize those things probably aren't supposed to do the job I had expected them to. It's small, cheap, looks good and cute, but I found it useless. The cable is way too short and the clip cannot be attached to the laptop's lid side without risking the screen getting scratched, so the only stabile and safe position is on the top of the lid. I always got the light's reflection on the screen which bothered me, ...
...and at the same time it wasn't strong enough to illuminate the keyboard satisfactorily. I didn't think it should be like a 4OWatt bulb, but this just wasn't enough. The beam which does reach the keyboard is a size of a Pringles crips, the rest sinks in darkness. You will find it annoying also if your laptop has USB ports only on sides, coz then the wire will always be in your way. This light might be a nice-looking fancy toy and I would keep it ...
