HP Xb3000 Notebook Expansion Base
Review of HP Xb3000 Notebook Expansion Base by philneal88

Advantages: Easy to set up, Great sound quality, Easy to use
Disadvantages: None, but its pricey for what it is

This is a great product, however I would not recommend it if you frequently use your laptop whilst travelling. I would however recommend this laptop to those who have laptops at home. This is a great way to store your laptop. I found it easy to attach and quick to set up with no problems at all. The sound quality is great and I found it to be good overall. However this to me seems a more specialist product and the expansion base doesn't really offer ...
...you have the money to buy it, but I dont see it as particularly necessary for the laptop, it really is a glorified speaker system, but is one of those things thats clever but not necessarily required for your laptop. DETAILS: Speakers are great quality. Base itself is durable and feels quality Good storage solution for cables bit fiddly to sort. Takes reasonable amount of space up. Aesthetically well designed ... Houston, we have no problem!
Review of HP Basic Docking Station with Smart Adapter by sadoldbag

Advantages: Simple, quick way of commuting between desks with a laptop
Disadvantages: Takes a bit of space p on your desk, compared to simple laptop use

This HP docking station is a really useful piece of equipment. For those of you who have not used one before, what ia docking does is connect to all the peripherals on your desk. So you plug it in using its adapter and you can connect a mouse, a keyboard and a printer to it using USBs. You can connect a monitor to, if you want to, which I have. What's the point? Well what it means on a daily basis is that you can perhaps do away with the need for ...
...you could plug different people's HP laptops into it if you wanted to operate a hot desk with it. It costs £105 from PC World, but prices vary a bit depending on where you buy it from. As a daily home/work laptop commuter - I can really recommend this product. It has made my life simpler, my desk more pleasurable to sit at, and saves me a few minutes a day packing and unpacking. ... Read review

An umbilical of laptop life!
Review of HP Advanced Docking Station by andycharger

Advantages: Great connectivity, features, design
Disadvantages: needless design change

...both my current and old HP laptop, i have owned a matching docking station and the only critisism would be the fact that the older docking station is not compatible with the newer laptop even though there is only a matter of a year or so between. After all they are the same manufacturer! With that aside, the rest of this review is nothing but praise for my docking station! Looks. Matches the laptop superbly in colour as both are finished in the ...
...Docking Station (DS) the shape and style of it lends itself to supporting a monitor. The old DS simply had the laptop covering the entire item. The new DS sit behind the laptop when in position. OK it takes up more desk space but I think gives you somewhere safe to place your optional screen. Buttons. Much improved. On the old DS, you had to push 2 buttons on either side to release the laptop from the locks that hold it in place. These seemed a ... Read review

My new bag
Review of Targus Trademark 17 Clamshell Notebook Case by danielalong

Advantages: Good quality laptop bag
Disadvantages: None yet

Targus Clamshell XL notebook case With the purchase of my new and improved laptop, I needed a new bag so I could carry it around with me. A quick scour around some of the major retailers convinced me that they were all, bar a few, priced around the same price. I knew that I wanted a bag which was smart enough to carry to work and to meetings related to work, but which was equally able to withstand some knocking about. I also knew that I didn't ...
...serviceable colour) and has the Targus logo on the front of the pocket; very discreet, and not something which makes it look tacky. The bag itself is nicely padded, and so offers the laptop some protection without being overly bulky. The one I have is suitable for laptops up to 17", and for anyone interested, the exterior dimensions are 46cm x 38cm x 9cm, with the notebook dimensions being slightly smaller. At the front of the bag is a pocket compartment ... Read review

Good Hardware, Bad Software
Review of Freecom DVB-T Stick by ugm6hr

Advantages: Cheap, Works
Disadvantages: Poor software

...is different for Linux users (specifically Ubuntu 7.10). While Freecom does not officially support Linux, Realtek (who make the DVB chipset) have released a driver that has been modified for easy installation by the Ubuntu community (just search the forum). It works flawlessly with Kaffeine (free media player). ... Read review
