Apple MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo 2.5 GHz - 17" TFT
Review of Apple MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo 2.5 GHz - 17" TFT by pieceofmind

Advantages: nice screen, good battery life, fast specs
Disadvantages: large size (price?)

Apple mac-books, where to start... ok, so to start, it is an apple, that means you get a solid quality product and on the whole very good customer are. this particualar apple is deffinatly more suited to being a media center than other laptops. At first glance you realise that it is a fairly large laptop, this allows for a big screen, which being an apple ffers clear vivid displays, unfortunatly the big screen increases the overal size and also ...
...very good for an entertainment laptop. The laptops technical specs include a very fast 2.5 ghz dual core proccesor which is very fast, the dual core allows it to tackle multiple tasks quicly as well as increasing the overall speed of the laptop. The price is quite steep however, but i believe, if given the money, it is probably one of the best laptops to go for all the best If you found this rating helpful, please give it an EXEPTIONAL rating ... A Dream Machine
Review of Apple MacBook Pro Core 2 Duo - 17\" TFT by sharky05

Advantages: Power, Quality of build, display quality
Disadvantages: cost

...an extremely fast rendering machine. Apple has squeezed as much of the world-renowned Mac Pros into this 1" thick machine as possible. What I find amazing is the attention to detail. Instead of the ugly hooks that keep the screen locked when closed on all other manufacturers laptops, apple makes a simple magnetised system where the hooks only come out as the laptop is being shut. I decided to spend about £90 extra and get the hi resolution screen ...
...that the text would be too small to read, but to my delight everything is readable, and this is one of the sharpest lcd displays on the market. The screen on the hi-res laptop also has an LED backlight, which produces brighter whites and also saves on battery usage. Other gems include a backlit keyboard, a sudden motion sensor which stops the hard-drives if the laptop is dropped, and ambient light sensors which adjust the display and keyboard backlights ... The sexiest laptop in the land
Review of Apple PowerBook G4 - PPC G4 1.67 GHz - 17" TFT by djspellbound

Advantages: Sexy, Soundcard, graphics, screen are all good! Harmony
Disadvantages: Cannot play many games

Great laptop, has lasted me just over 2 years now and is still serving me well! I use the powerbook for producing music on Logic Pro 7.2, I however found that after I had learned the basics and am now straying a little further into the realms of soft-synthesis, my memory was limiting me so I up-graded to 2gig of ram from the 512meg which comes factory built in the machine, this was done easily (just a few screws and that was it!). The new ram only ...
...too! If you are planning on doing this you must make sure you use the correct type of ram for the unit, some are DDR2 and the older ones are not. This means the older ones cos substantially more (over £100) I used crucial.com, they allowed me to pinpoint exactly what machine i was using and sold me the correct one. The sound quality from the in-built card is fantastic, the notebook is light, modern looking and very easy to use, it also copes with ... Read review

HP DV6599 Special Edition - Good All Rounder
Review of HP Pavilion Media Center dv6599ea Special Edition Entertainment - Core 2 Duo T7300 2 GHz - 15.4" TFT by marcus997

Advantages: Features, size and design
Disadvantages: Not good enough for gaming

...me. As a fan of HP products, I chose from the DV6500 range available at the time. This laptop had every spec I required for both using as a station for university assignments, as well as home use for music, film and gaming. Firstly, the design is eye-catching. I was bored of looking at the generic black or grey and thought the white anti-scratch surface was ideal. The laptop is also quite light and the absense of a locking clip meant there was less ...
...more than my money's worth! HP also frequently offer discounts so it's always worth checking to see what deals are to be had. As well as the remote control that is stored away when not in use, another of my favourite features is the fingerprint reader. When you use the internet on a frequent basis, remembering usernames and passwords can be frustrating. For anyone who hops from website to website, I'd highly recommend this feature. Thankfully I ... Does an excellent job for most day to day tasks
Review of Toshiba Equium A200-26D - Core 2 Duo T5450 1.66 GHz - 15.4" TFT by s32bauer

Advantages: Good looks, most basic equipment you would need, able to handle most programs
Disadvantages: Not suitable for games, some aspects feel cheap

...However, I will warn that Toshiba have placed quite a lot of branding on the software. The Toshiba wallpaper is easy to get rid of, but there are numerous 'memory eating' programs that Toshiba claim to help your laptop - they do nothing worthwhile. Certainly nothing that Windows can't do better. Separate programs for controlling the touch pad aren't required, and uninstalling all of this non-essential software frees up storage space and memory. ...
...ethernet port for my internet, and have had no issues with either. The ethernet is very straight forward plug and play, and connects to your ISP in seconds. The display is extremely crisp and sharp, and the brightness can be changed to suite your needs (and energy consumption). On the subject of energy consumption, this laptop isn't too bad compared to some I have used. I can run my laptop in high performance mode using wireless LAN for internet, ... Read review
